Great to see an established Mille forum on the net.

I passed my bike test 10 years ago, and had 3 months of fun on a yamaha yzf400, i had some hard times back then and had to sell the bike between jobs.

Finally 10 years later i decided to purchase my 1999 RSV Mille. with only 16,000 miles on the clock and lots of history £1200 UK pounds looked like a bargain
It has a power commander and an akrapovic exhaust (original inc too) and mostly still looks new. Really love the polished frame and swing-arm

I purchased this just two days ago, and apart from adding a new battery, i am loving every bit of it..

I just have a couple questions, i'm sure someone on here will know.

(1) under the rear seat section, there is a long thin bar, its removable and looks just like a car bonnet / hood keep up bar. What is this tool for?

(2) Can the newer RSV Clocks, one with single rev counter and single digital readout be used on my 1999 RSV?

Thank you in advance if you answer these questions.. I'm sure there will be more to come.

Keep safe.

Hey Darren

Dunno bout the clocks but the bar under the seat is to prop the tank up..

Have fun on the beast, and take it easy - took me a little while to get used to the vtwin after riding IL4's

Many thanks Paul, that's good to know, i am taking the tank and plastics off in the morning for a good clean.. that may help too.

Thanks again.

The "long thin bar" is used to hold up the fuel tank during maintenance, it is hinged at the back end and the bar is fitted in the front.

Clocks from a Gen 2 cannot be used on a Gen 1 without a huge amount of work, it would be cheaper, easier and quicker to fit an after market unit.

Oh Hello BTW , get some pictures posted up of the beastie.

Day One, just collected..

looks nice. I had the 2000 ' R ' . A mate of mine has exactly the same as yours. His just chewed up the ' stator ' , you might want to read up on that, it seems to be an issue with that model. There are ' threads on this site discussing the issue
