Yes, the new Aprilia Caponord is still very new... but from what you've seen so far, what are your initial impressions?

I thought I was going to buy a Dorsoduro 1200 until I saw the Capo. I really like the looks and since it is based on the DD I am not really concerned about reliability issues on a first year bike. It looks like everything I want in a bike but will hang on to my Tuono for local runs through the twisties. Can't wait for it to arrive stateside!

The Capo will surprise ye just how well it copes with the twisty stuff T4 min

..While they are no Tuono they are good handling machines......twos up as weel

....and the Gen 2 Capo promises to be even better so bring it on!

Well, finally got a sit and bounce about on one in a dealer down South at the weekend. Loved it the minute I saw it.

Felt very balanced with the missus on the back. Much better than the current Capo which always feels top heavy and that ye could cowped it on its side very easily ( and I have!).

The bars feel quite a bit wider but in a good sort of way.

Report from behind was that the pillion position and comfort felt alright ( but needs to be tested in earnest on a proper decent test ride.

BUT.....and its a big but......

The front of the panniers are of such a design and the rear pegs are positioned in a way that it forces the pillions foot forward so that its only their heel that can fit on the peg. The rear pegs are also pretty much in line with the riders. So due to the pillion foot being forced forward it hits into the riders calf. On the old Capo the pillion pegs are quite offset wider than the riders so heaps of room.

This is disappointing somewhat as the whole point is to buy one as a serious ( but sporty) twos up machine for some decent long milage runs.

I have a full test ride booked for when the UK dealers finally get some demo bikes in so will report back once we have had a decent and long rasp oot on it.

I for one don't have a skinny missus to sit on the back like they've got in the promotional video so it will be an important factor pillion comfort. Not being able to relax your feet in the middle will stress the calves and cause discomfort I'm sure. We'll see when we try.

Just bought the new Caponord. How come Aprilia can design such a hi tech bike with informative display, and forget to add a fuel range indicator. Even low tech Harleys have a fuel range indicator.
