Finding neutral - seems to be a common thing, is there anything that can be done to make it easier?

Gearing - going to drop it and hopefully be better setting off in first.

Its got a scorpion can fitted but may change that for a twin system add a k&n or similar and cut the wire and have it set up.

Anyone point me in the right direction on any cheap and worthwhile mods and also a good exhaust system.

Neutral is a ***** sometimes.

Just be gentle, you'll find it but it does need patience sometimes.

Quite often, when cruising to a stop just tap it down from 2nd.

Loads of good zorsts depends on how much wonga you have?

I have found it easier as you say to drop in from second.

Also is there any way of removing the key without putting the steering in lock so it can be left on paddock stands without leaving the key in.

On a Gen 1 yes, don't own a Gen 2 so sorry can't answer that one?? Assume you have a Gen 2?

Fae on the info offered it's a gen1.

Wake up S.

Mine doesnae go oan to the stearing lock unless I select it to. Go to 16/44 gearing it makes town riding smoother and back roads more fun. You can get a link pipe mod for about £130 which does the same as a twin exhaust set up. Cheapest twin exhausts I have seen are around £400+ secondhand.

Upgraded battery, starter solenoid, gap the plugs (yes really), drop the gearing, stick with the single pipe, do the link mod Aldo mentions (gives same power as twin pipes), grease every bolt you touch, wipe all alloy with ACF-50, buy an optimate its a big twin.....

Nice set of tyres, Michelin Road Pilot 3's and fill it with fuel..... ride it all year round.

Hey there just a quick question,I totally agree with all mentioned above however which solenoid did you use as I have just ordered a new aftermarket replacement from AF1 in US but no go..the new one clicks but gives no cranking power?
Any ideas will be much appreciated
Cheers

Make sure the battery is good and all the earth connections are sound.

I think there are quite a few that fit. I know mine has the same solenoid as an R1 I do believe?

Thanks guys
All new to me however have been told the OEM from AF1 150 AMP is a typo error? Been told elsewhere its 50 AMP!
My original one still works but on occasions wont start so I rock the bike back n forth then eventually after a few minutes it fires! Weird!
Been told by AF1 to check charge rate etc? any ideas? Seemed bizarre that the new part didnt crank when the old one did?

I agree with the AF1 advice.Check your battery for charging and volt drop.A weak battery will give the symptoms you are having.
The solenoid does'nt crank the motor,......it basically connects the battery to the starter motor.Gen1 bikes were fitted with a weedy solenoid that just could'nt handle the amount of current needed to crank the engine.Eventually they become unreliable, then pack up completely.

Cheers Keith, I will use a volt meter and check it. Any ideas on what it should be at idle, at rpm and and when bike is off?
The battery probably 15 months old however always have had a battery tender on it.

With the ign off,you should get 12.5-13v dc.Start the bike and let it idle,...expect around 14-14.5v dc.Rev her up to 4k rpm,and the voltage should, near enough be the same.
To check the volt drop,......check the voltage,(ign off).............leave it off the battery tender and check it again 24hrs later. If you are losing around 2v,it could be the battery is on the way out.

Had the problems finding first when I first got my Tuono, apparently not helped by the previous owners fitting of a race clutch. Clutch was designed for the race start where you want to fire off the grid with minimal change of hitting neutral by mistake. solution was to go to neutral from 2nd, works every time.

As for mods: K&N, twin Akrapovic, power commander, enjoy
