feckin engine braking

Mornin all. After not noticing any difference to the fueling of my bike since cutting the wire on the ecu a couple of days ago this mornin my engine cut out causing the back wheel to lock up and the bike to skid at about 30mph for 10 meters until I wrestled it to a stop, thankfully still upright. I know I shoulda grabbed the clutch but I couldn't prize my fingers from the bars.
Now the engine was a bit cold as I hadn't warmed her up properly due to not wanting to piss the neighbours off too much on a weekend morning. But I haven't done owt I haven't done before. Could this be down to cutting the ecu wire?

If thats the only thing you've done, then it points to it mate.
Did the bike start up after and ride home ok? Do you remember what temp the engine was at when it cut out? I doubt this would cause the problem tho' Could be **** in the petrol?

It started back up and I rode on to work no bother. Temp gauge said 40 C at the time. I'll see what happens tonight when I ride hope. Clutch hand at the ready!

Have to admit that sometimes mine does cut out especially when appraoching roundabouts etc usually when changing down & riding the clutch.

Just rode home nay bother. Must've been cos the engine was cold, well **** the neighbours I'm gonna let her warm up properly in the mornin.
Good job they're bikers on both sides!

yer gotta let it warm up pal, know what you mean about the neighbours though , luckily i just roll down the road not even in gear for about a mile, norm up to 65 ish by then.

Dazz it happened to me one one occasion, the engine was cold, let it get up to at least 60c afore yer ride off.

If I'm out early I dont usually bother warming the bike up first, cos of the neighbours again, and by the time I slow for the junction at the end of the street I have to blip the throttle otherwise she wants to cut out. Next junction tho (1/4 mile away) and she's fine, ticks over lovely.

Think it says in the handbook somewhere that the engine has to be warmed up before riding off.
Think about the poor skinny little pistons rattling up and down the bores until they reach op temps.
Soon they'll be singing that little ditty.."I hear you knockin"

reckon nowt tae dae wi ye cuttin any wires. Soond mair like a caul engine stallin. Bein a heavy bugger o a motor tae spin roond an if yer in 1st or mibbe 2nd it will lock up. Done it masel a couple o times.

Have also managed tae hae mine cut oot occassionally usually as ye change doon rapidly at approach tae a roondaboot or junction. The lecky brain disnae like it.
Nae panic, clutch in, quick stab o the starter an yer away!

( Had loads o practice o this years ago wi an auld GT750 Kwacker that jist widnae idle an died oan me at evri opportunity)

That's what I meant R man but failed to mention I was hard on brakes, front end well dug in & going through the box as well.

My bike had the wire snipped when I brought it, though from what I gather the bottom end is a little fluffier on Map 2. I didn't have any probs with it, but the other day my bike was just below 50C when I pulled out of my house and some numpty pulled out in front of me. Closed the throttle and on the brakes - cut out instantly! I'd just put it down to the cold engine and cold weather. Don't worry yourself too much - though in a perfect world I'd have let her warm up a little longer ;)

I meant ti tell yiz awe aboot last week. I jumped on the T in the main street in Peternapper. Started her up, of course heads turn ti see the racket. I briskly move away (fook... I sound like a RIDE reported) up the street, well quite a han fa actually, and close off the throttle to take a sleeping bobbie, bang the back locks up, i'm noo at 30-40 degs slewing doon the wet/greasy road. Dabbed the clutch and it came back in line. Ower the bobbie and awa as though I mint it. It must hiv looked good to watch, but I've noo got a crease on the seat far mi arse cheeks nipped up a bit:)

Nice one slomo , don`t let people know your mistake.

I`ve got it wrong when playing the pipes the odd time ......................................,

Think of a tune and start off wrong but you must carry on. It`s OK if you keep it short .

a foible? Bloody hell, I hope it doesnt happen as I throw it into a bend.
