Hi - I have just bought a Gen 2

Is there anything that has to be done/ common issues / Ohfuckdon'ttouchthatwithabargepoll type issues?
Thanks

A few others will chip in soon . but a full set of crash bungs is a must to start , make sure bike is kept on a battery minder , make sure dog bones are we greased ( this is my next job ), check and clean " the brown connector " this well covered in other threads, get yourself a "us " spec side stand . there is more but me minds gone blank but thats a good start.

loads of stuff on here Mr M
oil level - ensure you check as per the handbook
dog bone bearings have been know to seize due to lack of grease
rear brake bleeding - back brake requires regular bleeding but the caliper needs to come off to do it right
brown connectors can be an issue
battery needs to be 100%
side stand can cause probs - bikes have been known to fall over in the wind
fuel map 2 for aftermarket cans
fogging clocks - most just live with it
for an indepth explanation type the key words into the search window and it will pull up the relevant threads

what was that about dog bone bearings?
what symptoms does it give?

I have never had the problem myself however I would presume seized bearings would make the rear feel very stiff :dunno

I heard about the battery issues - but I was under the impression that the Gen 2 was somewhat better than Gen 1.

Re dog-bone greasing - will that have not been picked up in a major service?

Thanks for the pointers - I will go off and hit the search button

The side stand issue - wow, seemed way better than the Ducati 998s one !

That would depend on your mechanical skills,
Have a look at the how to threads on this and other forums to gauge for yourself if it's something you want to do.
Some reckon it's easy, some reckon it's not for them.

Is the linkage a do at home job, or a dealer job ...?
Fairly easy job to do if you are handy with the spanners.A dealer would probably charge you for 3 or 4 hours labour.Doing it yourself would save a wad of cash.
