Fake Brembo discs?

M

Moggi

I recently sold some Brembo brake discs to someone on ebay and I got an email from him saying they're copies!

They're the fully-floating ones that were fitted to the '97 Ducati 916SPS and I had them fitted to the 5-spoke Brembo Mille wheels.

How would/could this guy know? He seems 100% certain that they're copies but I have a feeling he's trying to pull a fast one :dunno

Just apologise and tell him to send them back telling him you were not aware, also ask him what makes him think they are fakes, if they are not copies he will keep them and he is trying it on. He may just want an excuse to return them and using that anyway.
Hopefully you took good pictures before you posted them to make sure he does not send different ones back (this happens alot on ebay, I mark all my items with an invisible pen that shows up under UV) Make sure he knows that you will be able to tell your ones from any others he may send back.

Hey Steve-o!

I've already sent him a message asking him why he's so certain that they're fakes, just waiting for a reply. These style of disc u don't often see, so I I'm not too worried about him sending different ones!

Cheers :thumbup

i bought some new aprilia part number discs in the winter all genuine packaging & code number stickers etc on them

they look like brembos but actual are stamped sunstar/sunstream or something

Got a reply from the buyer......

"Hi, you probably bought in good faith, but they are certainly not Brembo's they may have been on an SPS but they are copies, unfortunatley i have another set, i have a 916 sps 1997 model, they have the Brembo logo etched on with year number and they are cast iron and not normal steel, i'm sure they will do but if i had wanted steel discs that are not Brembo's i would have paid alot less, would you want me to send back so you can reimburse me or can we come to an agreement?"

A lot of Aprilias are fitted with what look like a Brembo disc, they are made by Sunstar and are every bit as good and less likely in my experience to warp than Brembos.

I would just take them back mate and refund the guy TBH and relist them again later in the year

Note, Brembos will have that stamped on them as will Sunstar, they look the same but are manufactured by different people

I agree with Badger Moggi. Post up the ebay item number and I will have a look at them

Sounds fishy to me mate, surely cast iron disks would be a different design and therefore look different? me thinks he has won a pair of the same style that are cheaper and therefore wants a discount. Did they have the brembo badge on them? Its hard these days on ebay so many arse holes out there that you never know if anyone is genuine anymore. Good luck with sorting it out.

Moggi, how much did you sell them for? Might be interested if you get them back.

Damm it, i was reading through this thread and was going to ask that very same question :bawling

Second dibs :laugh

Hehe. I'm just looking for a set for my track wheels Dave and probably won't get many more track days in this year - so if you're desperate, be my guest ...
