Stu move this if you reckon its any good
I did my fairing bolts about 2 months ago and forgot I took some pics on what and how I did it.
The story
My fairing bolts were deeply tarnished and by the looks of things scraped against the road sometime in its 9 year life.So I took them off and tried to spruce them up as opposed to shelling out on some new Duzs.
Materials needed
Autosol autolglym metal polishing paste ( Although any metal polish will do, or if deeply scratched some toothpaste first then metal polish) oe even better some jelewers green or white
Pillar drill or hand drill
800 wet and dry
Sponge
rag
Right so put faring bolt in the chuck of the Drill
Apply some metal rubbing compound to the bolt and turn on the drill.
get the wet and dry and put some paste on that aswell, we dont want to be rubbing to hot.
apply pressure for a minute or so.
get the sponge and let the bolt turn on the sponge to get rid of excess paste.
and finally get a small......i repeat small bit of rag and finish by polishing the bolt head with applying gentle pressure...............dont usea large rag as it will get wrapped up in the chuck and will either fling the bolt out of the chuck or get wrapped in you hand and rip a finger or two off.............dont ask how i know this.
After the bolt is a mirror finish and it will be, get wome WD40 to get clean the slot head, and hey presto.
The pics below dont really give an accurate refelction on the finished product due to the flash showing every inperfection that in daylight you wouldnt see.
Anyway hope its of some help
