My '08 Factory has a Sachs steering damper but as the suspension, wheels, tyres etc are the same as the '08 Factory Mille should'nt the damper be an Ohlins?:dunno
 
G,day Streetbike, My 2007 Factory has the same steering damper. I also was wondering if this is correct, concidering everything else is top quality Ohlins! :dunno
 
Thanks for that Perry, perhaps we'll just wait and see a few more responses (hopefully), if ours is the norm I think I will have to invest in an Ohlins as I am disappointed with the lack of adjustment for different roads etc.
 
This is news to me guys. I was under the impression that all Factory models were fitted with the Ohlins unit as OEM.:dunno
 
Hi CL, that was the impression I had as well. I have located an Ohlins which is being checked over but I would prefer to hear that I simply had the wrong one fitted at the factory. :dunno :dunno

Nope, you are correct, my 2008 Factory has a Sachs steering damper too - must be OEM.

My 08 Factory has the Sachs unit as well.

What kind of a short-sighted cost cutting move is that? :rolleyes It's a FACTORY, and should have an all Ohlins package.

Do let us know what Aprilia says (assuming they answer at all...).
 
I have just checked out the 2009 Factory - you've guesssed it - also a Sachs. Nicer rider's saddle though, a better fit and looks like deeper padding. Although I've never had a problem with comfort, its just the fit round the rear edge looks a little mean.
 
Hi england, I've had to buy mine but I £155 including postage doesn't seem to bad for new and sealed. I should be able to get a few bob for the Sachs though.:thumbup

Aprilia Headquaters haven't bothered to return e-mail. :crazy
So I am trying the Australian Importer.
I'll keep you posted when (if) I get any info back.

Hi guys, I spoke to aprilia customer care 15.5.09 and they said that factory tuonos do not have adjustable steering dampers. I have checked the part numbers and the Ohlins adjustable steering damper(AP8795040) is listed as an upgrade accsessory. In the owners instuction/handbook it clearley states ADJUSTABLE steering damper. We have all been had!:banghead.
