Exhausts - I need your knowhow!

I have just recently bought an 08 Tuono and I am confused over what exhausts will give what results.
At the moment the bike is stock but I bought a set of Akros to fit later.
If i fit the Akros to the bike as it is (map1?) and use with the baffles in will it be ok?
Do I need to switch to map2 or are the best results with a PC3 as well (again baffles in as I dont want to be too noisy).
Is the stock setup rubbish or best left that way?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Map two will better suit the new pipes - although I have been told that you should first run the bike in as per schedule and after that fit the pipes and go to map two.

A PCIII along with the new map will be better again and getting a custom map best of all.

It's a matter of how much of an improvement you want and what you can spend to do it.

i have the 03 tuono with the aprilia racing evo airbox converter/filter ,Beowolf exhaust and PC3 with custom map and has cleaned revs up and given 10/15 BHP right through revs(although only about 3/5 extra at top),but it is megga nowand can show these plastic craptastic pocket rockets(sic') up on the twisties. TRY IT !!!

Thanks for the replys.
The pipes I have are the boring old oval ones.
Any info on whats best is welcome.

Akras can be boring??? I'll give you my mailing address so you can rid yourself of this bordom-inducing item, just say the word!

Have you thought about coring your cans or fitting a set of cored cans? Personally I love the look of the std cans. These are a set I've cored and shortened by 125mm. They are LOUD though (and I mean loud) I also mirror polished all the stainless on them for the "Bling" factor. I run them with Map2 activated, DNA filter and the airbox restrictor removed and they work superbly. I also have a set of the Black std exhausts cored and they are a bit quieter but seem to work just as well (seat of the pants feel)

I haven't had a dyno run yet (PC 111 and dyno planned for jan -feb 09) but the 5k stutter is gone and coupled with a 15-42 gearing set up she pulls like %^&*!

My dealer did it for free.....took maybe 10 min.w/ removal of seat.I think you should run it in before changin' any thing.....then put pipes,15 tooth spocket,KnN air cleaner, and set your suspension!!!:thumbup
