Mille-R is due for an MOT. So I have to remove the Akra and fit the standard can. I have unbolted the braket, and undid the coiled bungee thingies, but the damn thing will not come off. Am I doing something wrong or am I just useless?

ummmmm why are you taking it off for an MOT ?

Noise is NOT part of the test and you should only get rejected if it has "Not for Road Use" stamped on them

warm the exhaust up by running the engine

i have just taken mine off today...the 10 year old exhaust is now gone :doug

i had to twist mine like it was going out of fashion...tap the outside with a soft head hammer and 15mins later all done...

it was hard work and got very frustrated doing it but in the end it all came together :)

Or put stickers over "racing use only" MOT BLOKE IS NOT ALLOWED to take them off !!

It is an Akra. And it has "not for road use" etched on it. Even if I cover it, I do not believe that Akra makes road-legal cans.

:stupid

cover the not for road use up and it will pass, the mot tester doesnt give a rats or probably doesnt even know about akras , it will pass, trust us

cover it up with some tape, its illegal for the MOT'er to remove it.

You can have that 1 for free lol

Is that true?????

I always replace my scorpion slip on when I take it to have an MOT with the OEM because I thought the noise (which is considerable) would fail the bike.

Noise is not part of the test, but the tester has to go online to register a test, and VOSA can send an inspector without notice, and if found to fiddle, the tester can loose his franchise and possibly be fined if not jailed. Besides, bikes MOT's are carried out by specialist bike garages, unlike car's MOT's, which can be carried out by council's run centres. So, all garages will know which exhausts are legal and which are not, as they are the ones that sell and fit them and most bike technicians are bike nutcases like you and me.

Got mine tested today...well yesterday now..and the garage owner said he wasn't bothered about the can or noise levels but if an inspector came looking he said he'd have to fail it but not to worry just come in later and he'd do me the ticket :pirate he's a bike nut too, had four old BSA's sat on top of his office and a vincent he was cleaning up to sell ...now thats a garage i'll be going back to next year :biggrin

Dont be so sure on specialist centres, i take mine to a bloke who mainly does scooters, tested the brakes and lights looked at the tyres, checked oil seals passed it, not so specialist :devious

Angle gringer. straight throught the link pipe. hey presto. no can. easy.

Thanks for the offer. I drove the Aprilia can to Phoenix, and today my Mille-R will have her annual MOT and her 3rd service this year. Man, she's very high maintenance. I know some women are way cheaper than my Prillie.

Fitted my new akro can just now,Will change the chip shortly and plug in the PC3, then ill be sat by the door waiting for one of hooked's airbox jobbies
