Right the query I have here is looking on the all of ebay you see Akropovic Exhausts which have been taken off Gixxer 1000's etc, 600's etc. If you could get an exhaust link pipe made (there's an exhaust manufacturer in my area) whats to say tou couldn't use one of these exhausts. Mines a Tuono Racing 53 model with single pipe but could you use one of these pipes or an arrow can of a Gixxer. Does it matter what size engine it comes from or am I being a little naive here. Peopole seem to core exhausts so why can't we use exhausts for other bikes??

Without getting to technical any exhaust will be ok. Different sizes ie length diameter will give different sounds. Performance might be altered slightly. Cored cans are noisey because generally people use a big diameter perf and therefore can't put a lot of packing round. A short narrow pipe will be more raspy than a long large diameter one.
Thanks Nob. Knew someone would answer. So I can just buy any can I want and take it to the exhaust place near me say manufacture me a link pipe to fit on the Tuoldo fix it on and off to go. Nice one.

They should do I've taken cans to Quill in the past and they've made link pipes for me. They might say oooooo that's no good you need one of these but its not science. If you were getting a full system its a bit different because of the way they route the pipe work and the dfferent diameters etc.

And if anyone knows pipes, it's our nobbie. Thanks nob, I learned something ie the difference in sound when it comes to diameter. I want a nice deep throb, so I guess Ill be going for the bigger diameter. Found my ear buds, now I have to find that linky to the Arrow pipes on hue tube...

If you look down a Arrow or a Akra for instance they have small diameter perforated tube with a lot of packing to deaden the noise. The size of the perforations in the tube can make a difference too. Obviously a longer pipe will be quieter than a short one. Listen to a cored can with say, 2.5" perforated tube and a 4" sleeve and its deafening, practically no sound deadening at all. Listen to a can with 1.5" to 1.75" perf, which is around the diameter the factories use in a 4" sleeve and it will be much quieter as it will have more packing. Sometimes they put a layer of steel wool like matting in in between the fabric type stuff.
You could probably find accustic charts and power gain graphs for all the manafacturers exhausts but we're not arsed about that are we, we just want them to sound good.
Baffles will quieten them down even further.

That is way over my head that Nob. I just want a road legal exhaust not the racing one I got on at the mo which say for race use only and i doin't want the original heavy bastard which is quiet. U are right I want loud but not stupidly loud. i've checked and the guys at the exhaust place can do a link pipe. Might even ask them if they can manufacture one but Akropovich always looks the dogs bollox and theres a few going on ebay with a 60mm inlet if that makes sense. Shoudl give a nice rumble eh.

Just to **** with you some more, bay, I listened to some Sharks on hugh tube and they sounded pretty decent and they look pretty good. Dunno aboot the build quality though.

OK MIVV it is then. Do I go for a standard level exhaust, an x cone one (which I'm not too sure about the shape of), or carbon gp one (which is too expensive in my opinion as I've already got a straight through can and its just pure indulgence changing my exhaust)
Giles why is it more expensive for the Tuono over the Mille when surely its exactly the same bike??
