Exhaust power valve

Hi All
I'm new here so just saying hello !
Came across this site looking for info on the exhaust valve of the Rsv4.Mine is stuck close and causing the SERVICE light to come on and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to best coarse of action I could take ? checked cables and all good and I've tried re setting the valve to 'open' but soon as the ignition is turned on it closes again even if i have bike in gear.Have checked diagnosis and all clear, have heard of people dumping the valve but I need to keep it to help get through sound tests on track (have Austin slip on) due to Db being lower with it in when in neutral.
Any ideas welcomed as not sure if its a case of ordering a new valve motor .Bike is obviously running Crap due to closed valve !
Thanks in advance
Tom..

Hi grizzly, thanks for that.Is it easy enough to disconnect ? Would be handy to be able to reconnect for sound test and any help on fuel is always a bonus...

Hi frogtr4, i don't know about reconnecting never bothered just put baffle in can no probs, it is a bit fiddly to disconnect but well worth i think.

WEY HEY !!Dealer wanted £200 for the part +fitting, found one on ebay for £63 and fitted myself, turned bike ignition on for a couple of mins then off and back on again before starting it up and SERVICE message and light gone, bike running bang on again,Well Happy ....

Well done mate, now that is done remove the cables from the servo end,the valve will spring into the fully open position,if you have a race can on get the ECU remapped to race spec. Smoother running, better fuelling & also does not use the exhaust valve. it also has the same maps as the race ECU but cheaper,it even says RACE on the dash, how cool is that. Windy Corner in Barwell,UK have done a few with good results.
