Exhaust options?

Evening all,

I've been trying to fit a twin system from my 51 plate RSV to my 02 Mille R. I think it's an 04 system with Akrapovic cans and having gone down the Falco route in the past thought it would be pretty easy, but I can't get the stand down very easily and the oil cooler doesn't fit. (When I *******ised the Falco system I just had to cut and fibreglass a nice bulge in my bellypan to accomodate the side running front pipe).
So now I'm thinking what are my options?
Do I keep trying with this twin system, cut the fairing to make it fit properly and move the oil cooler, or do I go on the hunt for a nice single can exhaust. My 03 RSVR's got a really nice lightweight full Akra system (single sided) but I don't want to fork out a grand for the same thing.
I know Redratbike does the modded collectors so that's an option, or is there a good single sided system out there for less than the Akra?

All ideas and advice on this welcomed.

Thanks.

No expert here
But , I think redrats modded collectors has the same outcome as twin pipes , the perceived length of the system is increased
So a 2-1 can be run
I'm shure he'll pop up and correct me soon
One of his modded pipes will go on my bike when I can get the old one off

Firstly...is the 04 > system need the 4 bolt hole flanges cut off ..3 bolt hole ones welded on ...the front pipe may need a dint in it to clear the oil cooler, the rear pipe may need one or two as well for clearance through the swing arm.
The cans will never look right as the engine in the later bike is offset so chain side sticks out a bit ,other side closer.
If I was going this route I'd leave the standard rear pipe in place and mod the new collector to fit.

If you have the full akra system I'd personally stick with that.... You could possibly mod that adding the extra pipes like my modded collectors....

Cheers Redrat,

The full Akra is staying on my track bike, but what you're saying about the 04 system makes sense. It's got the 3 hole flanges which looking at it now I can see have been welded on, hasn't got the dent in it for the oil cooler but the back pipe cleared through the swing arm no problem.

How much are we talking about for a modded collector?
Are there any twin sided systems out there for the Gen 1's - I seem to remember a couple of guys years ago having Milles with twin exhaust systems and factory fit fairings.

Collectors are 130 exchange

There's a few systems out there for gen1's but it's waiting for them to come up for sale..I think arrow still make a system..akrapovic are special order only nowadays

Did you buy the gen2 system off ebay?

OK then I think 130 quid might be finding it's way down to you.
The system was fitted on my 51 plate - wasn't a bad fit but the oil cooler had been taken off it's mounts and held in place with metal garden tie things!

That doesn't sound good!

No, I don't think metal garden tie up things are the best way to secure parts of a motorbike together - which is exactly why I'm going to go down the modded collector route!!
