being use too inline 4's... i know 4-1 give best top end... 4-2-1 give a good overall balance & 4-2 give best torque... is that the same principle for V-Twins !? :dunno

there seems to be 2-2's (Falco?)... 2-1 (early std)... 2-1-2's (early standard with a special link for 2 cans) or the Aprilia 'shotgun' & the modded collector pipe... lol !! :confused

is the 2-1-2 or 'shotgun' just as good as the 2-2's !? :dowhat

On a v-twin a 2 into 2 gives more top end power . A 2 into 1 gives more bottom to mid range power.
Some v-twins are more sensitive to these designs than others and so you see quite a few derivitives of the 2 basic designs.

The "shotgun" design just gives more surface area for a given size and therefore means 2 smaller diameter pipes can be used instead of one large pipe, basically saving weight while providing more exhaust area.

Kiwi I think its the other way around ,a guy I knew who used to race a mille, had a 2-2 for tight slow circuits & 2-1 for faster circuits, the 2-2 system gets rid of the dip at 5-6k & the 2-1 system gives more top end, obviosly if you compare 2 similer quality pipes,eg 2-1 akro & 2-2 akro
