exhaust chip mod

S

skippyfc

Hi chaps, need your help with a question....
When i bought my shotgun exhausts the guy i bought it off gave me a chip for the ecu (its marked on chip as RSV5.MOD).

He said he never had it fitted and as long as the temperature indicator etc didnt rise when exhausts were fitted it was not really neccessary. Bike runs fine without it fitted but thought i'd put it in see if it improves anything.

anyway, take out ecu, replace chip, with notch in end of chip matching notch in socket, refit everything and ................. bugger all happens ! !

Fuel pump doesn't whir and prime and won't start.
replaced original chip and starts fine,

Am i doing something daft, or just wasting my time,

would appreciate any comments, cheers

Probably better just to re-fit the original one and hope it all works again.

yeah, you're prob right. If it 'aint broke, don't fix it.
have put original back in and it fired up first time.
Was just curious to see if you gained anything from fitting the chip as it came with exhaust, maybe smoother running, better mapping ? ?

Temp gauge runs as normal with original chip so will leave good alone.
Cheers

had this with a variety of chips and still have no explanations for you mate.... if you find one let me know

Sounds like that EPROM is fooked mate, best to leave the one that works in for now and PM DrRossi to see if he can do you a custom EPROM?

Trust me, I bought one the other week and it's awesome!!

What would you expect from a custom eprom chip ?
Done a similar mod on my last yamaha and it simply smoothed out the jerkiness of the fuel injection.
Is it worth doing on the ape

Not really after more power, have enough trouble keeping licence as it is !

DrRossi just did my EPROM so that the fuelling and ignition was suited better to my open airbox, free flow exhaust set up etc...

It just makes it smoother, picks up much more cleanly and yes it does give you more power that's for sure.

Well worth the money, lots less than a PC3.

I'm guessing that they have to be tailored to each individual
set up then. I've got normal airbox and no other mods
just the shotgun Termi's.
Like the sound of smoother fueling, roughly how much wonga are we talking ?
And is it a straight plug in and go job, bit ******** when comes to tinkering !

Yeah, just PM DrRossi and tell him what year and model bike it is what mods you've done, what exhaust you have, airbox etc.....

Then he'll PM you back with a price, you'll then more than likely need your throttle bodies setting up for the new chip.

It's a very simple mod to do and DrRossi gives you a full sheet of instructions.

cheers fella, might well go down that route.
In fact, missus away this weekend so will get ball rolling without her looking over shoulder, mumbling "what you buying now".

appreciate help

aftermarket eprom run directly on the circuit board, not like the original that runs on a sister board, which is fitted to the circuit board,I had the same problem until I removed both.I fitted a Gabro & yes you do get a power increase

so it's not a case of simply unplugging the original and replacing with new one?

Didn't really see anywhere that it could go except as a direct replacement.
Like i said, perhaps i shouldn't be tinkering, especially with the ecu :dunno
