Exhaust Baffles?

I've recently changed my standard exhaust on my 2002 rsv Mille, since found out the baffles on the standard one can come out, I've read lots of posts on this but there are no pics on how to do this, maybe mine are done already because I can't see welds to take off to remove and I'm unsure if what I see are baffles, they are smaller pipes than the outer ones, help would be great with pics maybe, cheers

Exhaust bung in standard can is easily spotted. Just remove it and look up the pipe that bolts to the downpipe, not at the other end where the twin outlets are. You should see nothing.......if you see a cone type item with two bloody great spot-welds holding it on, thats a restrictor and it needs persuading out with a cold chisel and a big hammer. Just bash away at the spot welds with the cold chisel and hammer, eventually they will give way. Then its sometimes necessary to get a pair of Mole grips and grasp the restrictor with them and wrestle it out. Can take some time to remove. I had pictures of this years ago but can't locate them at the moment, any links to pics I put up on Aprilia related forums are long since gone.

This forum I started years ago over on AF1 might help :-

And another thread which may assist :-

I found an image of the view down the header end of the can on a standard exhaust with the baffle removed :-

If yours looks like that then its already been taken out.

Here's what the baffle looks like :-

That's fantastic, great reply with all the detail I need, mine has been removed then by the previous owner, thanks

Hi does this change the sound at all, enough to still be motd and is it a race pipe sound,I have a titanium race on mine but my dads is standard, wondered if its worth doin to save him money?

Yeah, it changes the sound a little. Bit louder, bit throatier in tone. If the restrictor is still in your dads end can irrespective of the noise it is worth getting it out of there to allow the engine to breath that bit easier.

Slightly, not as much as a race can or system would. The ECU will micro compensate for any alteration as it will be minor.

Not really, nope. I've had a Renegade twin highmount system and an Evo airkit on mine for many years using the standard ECU chip. No issues whatsoever. I've got an aftermarket Rheinteknic ECU chip sat here that I've never fitted because I'm lazy and haven't got around to doing it. No appreciable downsides so far.

Very nice exhaust by the way, looks awesome, would really like something like that on mine

Cheers. The Renegades are a fairly rare system, I just got lucky a few years ago and managed to pick it up for a bargain price on eBay of £250. The noise they make still puts a grin on my face a mile wide even after 5 years. :)

Quick video of them in action although the footage doesn't do them justice :-
