Why do we have to pay this when an insurance claim is made? we pay hundreds in insurance for many years with no claims then on top of our contributions we have to pay a lump sum, why is that?

Cos thir awe a bunch o robbin bastids..........

......wiz it nae originally tae deter folk slappin in small value claims thus forcin up the cost o premiums..........that worked then..... NOT

p, they're jist like every other org. Bend over boys we're gonae hump yer.

Never seen a poor insurance company, called recession proof! I think the excess is there to make you think twice before making a claim.....unless of course its the other parties fault.
Then its reclaimed from the other parties insurance.

Aye that dis mi heid in as well.......................as does road tax. Noo that is a load o pish!

Anybody read this weeks MCN & the list of items that count as modifications any more than three then insurance is invalid with Bennets include some really stupid non performance related stuff such as stickers, Badges, bar end mirrors/weights, Braided hoses, Engine casing guards, Crash Bobbins, scrfeens, Chrome accesories, heated grips, non standard seat, sat nav, shock, tank gtrippers etc etc. list goeas on to 59 items.

I had to laugh (Not) when I changed my Insurance to the new Fireblade from Mille 1000 I was quoted an extra £275.00 & I then had to fit a Thatcham Cat one alarm/immobiliser at a cost in excees of £350.00.
Brokered through Motorcycle direct, Policy was with Aviva. I cancelled the policy and was rebated about £60.00 and then renewed the policy with Motorcycle direct for £180.00 fully comp exactly the same bits & bobs no need to upgrade the alarm system & guess who the Insurers policy underwriters were?? Correct if you guessed AVIVA. I had a go at customer services whose only response was. " we can only go by what the computer screen says."

Still suppose £180.00 fully comp for 2011 plate Fireblade aint so bad, The Tuono + 2001 plate Fireblade is £300.00

Their wanting me to pay for all the scamming ***** obviously ...anyway gocompare did the business for £309 , go poke it zurich ::megaphone

You have to do the annual compare the market shop. I always get stuffed on the next years premium. They hope you dont notice, rip it out of your credit card and they make a **** load more money. So it pays to shop around.
Dont forget to cancel the policy with your current insurers, before you shop around.

Just another insurance scam, so suppose you buy the bike from a dealer with all the bling on it. The dealer isnt going to be bothered on whats standard and whats not.
So where do you stand when the inevitable happens, buy it in good faith, and the insurance company go all stupid.

I went through tht with them as I had the colour coded rear hugger, raised screen, Akkrapovic, seat cowl. sports pack. Insurance co was fine as the were fitted by the dealer from new.
