Well, its STILL work in progress (lack of funds), but its DEFO a lot better than when I bought it.

History:- Bought from first owner who had it from new, 18 months ago. Its a 52 plate, and he hadn't even started for 10 months and it had 5800 miles on it. Sounds good? Well.... He'd had a hard off on the nearside, crashbung took a lot of impact, but it slid well. Result - crashbung ripped off, MUCH scuffing of panels etc and rear nearside bobbins ripped off and bobbins mount ground at an angle. Also mirror knackered, which fell off when I first opened her up!!!

He also, amazingly, had a low speed off over a speed hump, of all things, and on the other side, however, it fair thumped down, so the throttle clip-on has a slight bend in it. Bellypan scuffs and akra scuffed well. Crash bung worked, rear bobbin ok :) Imagine the state of it....

Pics of scuffed bits....

She was a bit sorry, but DEFO potential, especially due to lack of miles. :) First thing I did was give it an almighty clean up / de-gunge and lube / maintenance. Then it had a big huge service - ALL fluids drained, plugs, all filters, clearances checked etc etc so i had piece of mind that it was healthy. Next was a trip to PDQ to get it lowered a bit as I'm a short-arse, and to set the suspension. MASSIVE difference!!! It actually goes around corners! Next up, new tyres. I went for Dunlop Roadsmarts, as I don't do trackdays, spend most miles upright and they had good write-ups for the money (I don't have much).

Then, summer so all pennies went on fuel, bacon butties, chips and cups of tea, as well as a few bits and bobs of clothing. Oh, and some carbon goodies - front mudguard and rear hugger, and the front mudguard was WELL pooped - milky and flat, so i attacked it using the How To from here. Decent results, but I can't spray worth a crap!!
Once the tax ran out, october, I think, I could then save teh fuel / chips / butty / tea monies and start to put together a pile of bits. Because I'm "speshull" I couldn't resist a bit of bling to go with the other bits, and by this time teh rear brake had given up the ghost, so I sourced a replacement mastercylinder, as well as a carbon seat hump, Oberon (or the german one) clutch slave cylinder (i was losing clutch fluid, to the point that I lost all clutch on the M6 once...), Aprilia Performance rearsets (ONLY to relocate the rear master cylinder and reservoir, you understand.....), clip-ons, R and G exhaust protector (to cover the scuffs on teh end can), carbon tank protector, good rear bodywork, LED rear lights (wrong fitment, so they'll be for sale imminently) and my bestest bargain - brand new, unfitted left and right bellypan.

Soooo, after about 11 hours and not TOO much swearing, all the new gubbins (except the clip-on) are on. And whilst all the bodywork was off, I cleaned it all up underneath had a good poke about, and covered EVERYTHING in a good layer of ACF50 (I swear by it - my last 2 bikes were nakeds and all-year ridden and not a drop of corrosion). Hardest part - bleeding the sodding rear brake - BUT with the HOW TO on here, got it done, it's CRITICAL to remove caliper and bleed in teh positions shown. I had to get help as I don't have 4 hands.... Clutch wasn't too bad.
Soooo, as she now stands. I intend to get it MoT'd and taxed within a week and get some miles under my bum, bacon butties scoffed and tea drunk! :)

As she is now....

Stuff still to do... CLEARLY sort out some decals... And the nearside still has the scuffed main panel and the air channel thingy is scuffed too. i'm having no luck finding yellow bits and can't afford Aprilia prices, sooooo, ima investigate having them repaired and repainted. Next is teh clip-on, but I'm struggling to A) Find an allen key big enough to fit the top yoke, and B) I can't get it off teh floor to lower teh fork leg, so until I figure / beg / borrow / steal an Abus stand, then it'll wait. Also, I want to break up the nose with a number board, but am struggling to find any decent front-end on photos of a yellow one... :(

Whatcha think? :)

I found a bolt with the same size head as the top yoke nut and used it as an improvised allen key. I just put the bolt in the key hole upside down and used a small set of stillsons on the bolt shaft to turn it :thumbup

I like boobies too1!!.............wiv big puffy nips ...........

Tip if you ain't got a an abba stand get some ratchet straps tie em up to the beams in ur garage through the clipons or through each side of the top yoke and suspend ur bike that way whilst tekin oot yer front end assumin your clipons do no not mount to your forks he-h....:thumbup
