engine stops

hello, could anyone please help me with this, i have taken delivery of a mates mille, 2000 model . it has been recovered from France , the fault as he described it was intially he would would engauge first gear and when dropping the clutch the engine would stop, after a while it would set off in first but then stop when second selected. i know he has had a play around with the side stand switch at the road side whilst lossing his temper!

any help/advice is allways appreaciated

Sounds like the sidestand switch is faulty.
Trace the side stand switch wiring to where it changes into a connector (it will be by the left hand frame rail).

Unplug it and short out the red/black wires, start bike and engage gear it should not stall, however if it does replace the connector. locate the clutch cutout switch wiring loom (micro switch located under the clutch lever) trace back to you find the connector and unplug it. start bike and enagage gear, it should not cutout.
