I have an issue that is wrecking me out because I do not know what road to go down next to try to resolve the issue.
I bought a 46k miles RSV Mille recently that had one owner from new.
The bike runs A1 except for one very annoying / worrying problem.
When the engine is under load, i get this vibration and rattle, with the rattle sounding like a chain being literally pulled over the engine, you know that metallic, metal on metal sound.
it sounds like it is front cylinder and LHS.
It is constant and follows with the revs of the bike.
At idle and up to 3500 approx revs, no sound and after pulling up to 5k and above, no sound.
I spoke to Griff in Aprilia performance and after a quick discussion, we thought a tensioner may be faulty so changed the front tensioner.
This had no effect really and in truth, the sound seems to be progressively getting worse.
She runs absolutely spot on before and after the above rev mentions and it is just at the band where the engine is coming from low end up to top end and Im worried one day i could be out on her and end up walking it home.
Just to add a few bits, the bike has the oil done to manufacturer spec 4 weeks ago, properly adjusted X ring chain, nearly new sprockets, just serviced, throttle bodies cleaned last week, idles fine, pickup etc and gearing fine, no smoke from the exhaust.
Has anyone any experiences of this and what it could be?
The internet is like a minefield and sure you would have every problem in the land thrown at you but I'd rather get a little advice from those that know a little about these great engines before I make a decision on what to do next with it.
