:thumbupAfter all the threads about difficulty starting the RSV in the winter and offering advice to others myself...The little bugger refused to start today....absolutely sod all power, just clicks.
Appears my Optimiser is f'ckd and although lights up is not actually charging...so £40-odd later a new Optimate 3 has been installed and appears to be doing the business...flashing and burping (not quite) as per instructions....Marvelous!
The question is.....although the Optimate 3 is rated highly...any info on failure of the beastie??! ( just seeking some peace of mind) :thumbup

I use an Optimate 3 :confused are you sure it's that what's faulty and not a duff battery that wont hold the charge :dunno

My old original optimate gave up after being sat on a wet garage floor once and refused to work thereafter. I replaced it with an Optimate 3 SP which has a splash proof case and has been faultless since :thumbup

Always the way isn't it mate! I've had my Optimate for about 3-4 years now. Always had it off the floor and now it's installed (read balanced) on a shelf. Not had any problems, get the usual orange charging, then green maintaining lights so assume it's working OK, bike starts which adds to that thought.

i still have the original optimate that i have used for the last 12 years. twice in that time it has had the red lights up. al it required was to be switched off for 24 hours, then turned on again works a treat. touch wood. its on every day all day. :thumbup

I use a CTEK, mac tools guy that comes round work had a promotion on them, thought i'd try it out so far so good.

Maybe ive been lucky but never had a problem with mine, go out riding at least once a week so keeps it charged and healthy, i have got an optimiser but never been used :thumbup:thumbup
