EFI and TPS?

Aftering starting the bike, the right panel flashes "EFI". I connected the two wires under the seat next to the wiring harness, turned the ignition on, and the panel displayed "EFI" with a code of "1". From my reasearch, this appears to be an issue with the Throttle Position Sensor. I backed the idle down to 1250 (it was idling at 2k when I got the bike) and I'm still getting the EFI flashing on the right panel.
Do I need to disconnect the battery to get the system to reset or do I still have a problem with theTPS?

will the bike rev ok, or does it die as soon as you release clutch to pull away?

hey mw1,

not sure if you're aware that the TPS module is located on the side of the throttleboddies (not the idle screw) ? if not then you'll need to loosen the 2 screws holding it in place and slightly rotate it until it reads 0 - but I think I remember reading that EFI 1 can also be something to do with the ECU??

When I rode it home, it seemed to run fine. It was getting hot because the previous owner did not ensure there was enough coolant in the system and it would alternate between flashing the temp and EFI. I topped off the coolant to address the overheating issue last night. That's when I noticed the EFI display was still happening. I haven't tried riding it yet today, but last evening it idled and reved just fine.

Do I rotate the TPS while the two wires under the seat are connected and the ignition on (without the bike started, ofcourse)? I suppose one could call that debug mode.
