Hi all...
I just brought my first Aprilia... 1999 RSV1000 Mille.
With KNN airfilter airbox derestricted and aftermarket shorter can.

I'm a massive fan of mods and making it go better, I have found threads on the ECU wire cut mod, but all refer to a Blue/Green wire... my ecu however only has a BLUE wire.
Still the same do I cut it???

I dont think its a US model... sticker on the frame see attached pic..

And also the ECU Eprom has been replaced by the looks of it but I cant find any info on what I have.
Chip has sticker with 28885E on it...

any ideas on chip and wire cut???

see attached pics.

Thanks in advance.
Matt

Cheers for the reply.... Im still none the wiser.
My bike has a blue wire not a Blue and green.
That wire cut mod seems to be for the US models... can anyone confirm this or is it for every model outta the Aprilia's factory?????????????

Do i cut my BLUE wire like my pictures show???

cheers

The mod to the ECU with Blue/Green wire cut (Map 2 mod) is on ECU pin 16z
Download the RSV manual and check it is the right wire.

BTW, in your image the blue wire does turn to blue-green(ish) further back - the platsic coating colours seem to fade in places

Mate... legend... I ust looked further down the wire and yes its Blue and green.
that flucker is now getting cut!!!
cheers.
Now to know about my EPROM number????

Pat... thats some cool **** right there..
I read the whole lot, pretended to understand most of it.. dont think ill be doing that to my comp.

which brings me to the next question... If I cut the B/G wire to my ECU and I dont have a std chip in it or even better I get an after market chip, will it matter???
Will I need to join the wire back up again??

You only need to cut the wire (rule of thumb)if you are running an aftermarket chip, and have added a performance airfilter and end can (that way you will get the best out of it (If I remember rightly you can cut the wire any time you just wont gain any benefits )).

Where in N.Z are you ?

dont tell he will come a steal a bed

or you can fit a switch in the wire so you have the option of trying both ways

Cheers... based in wellys....
Would really like to know about the 28885E writing on the top of the chip... anyone?????

Yup I would ditch the chip and replace with a known one.

Used to be another Kiwi on here went by the name of Sensi, He was just up the road (somewhere north of Hamilton I think), If you get stuck you could try pm'ing him on here.

Welly's eh .....Im from Shake , Rattle and Roll city :-(....originally.

Yo some one call ! Standard rewriteable EPROM from the looks with a flashed map or clone map being put onto it have a few of these also , most are a Arrow clone map which aren't that great ... From the 15 different EPROMs I have & tried the RP58 stock 03 EPROM is still great around chip once a few mods added & have being told that most burnt / reflashed eprom chips start with the RP58 as abase then add in more ignition Timing & trim up the fueling . If the bike is running will with good power of the bottom end smooth rounding in town & not running out of power at the top end then don't go looking for trouble .

Im waiting to get my tank back from the painters so I can fit it and run the bike. Ive replaced the exhaust, added a k&n filter, cut the blue/green wire on the ecu and fitted iridium plugs.
I wanna see how it goes after all this.
Have also ordered the 16/44 sprocket combo too.
Not sure if the chip I have will be any good or not... seeing as it was basically in stock form.......
