ECU/CDI woes

Anyone here had ECU problems?
I'm just about to put in my third ECU and they are not cheap. The symptom is simple, after a while of great fun riding, the bike just goes onto one cylinder..the rear the last time and that's it, no more twin but a 500cc single...new CDI is the only thing that gets it back on two again.
Any ideas would be appreciated. :confused

Forgot to mention, the problem bike is a 2005 RSVR with race cans on, I've got a motobatt battery which is brand new. If I don't use it for more than a couple od days, it goes on the optimate.

Mates 04RSVR Factory here was doing the same thing ... ended up being faulty coils , they were spiking the ECU .. Not saying this is your problem but could be a point to check that the ECU isn't being or getting spikes from some other electrical component / components

Thanks for your reply Sensei, I'll get some coils to go with the third ecu! I'm really at a loss here and would much rather sort it out than get rid of it, but it is coming to that.

gix, I'd get you leccy system checked like Sensie says - it's pricey to replace stuff as a fault finding method. If you're not handy with electrics take it to someone who is and they should be able to trace any bad electrics with a multimeter. Give Griff a call at -> apriliaperformance <- on 01827 285500 he will be able to set you right.

Deacs :thumbup

Yeh stick with it mate. Because you never know how close you could be to srting it. My friend just sold off his nc30 because of some phantom electrical issue that he`d been trying to trace for ages.
So lost heart, sold it off real cheap, then guy had it sorted the next day, was a loose vacum pipe! :bawling
