Early mille air inlet upgrade

I got hold of one of the less restrictive rubber air inlets for the airbox from an early mille. Fitted it today and realised it dosent meet the inside of the frame, leaving a gap between them. I read the early mille's had some sort of gasket for this. Is it going to matter if i leave the gap? I will be upgrading to a 'hooked' style airbox soon so dont know if it will aid in more air getting in or hamper the ram air at speed?
Any opinions?

Put one of these onto my Mille since trying all the other types & not being 100% happy with them ... I thought I would try this & glad I did best unit yet

Hi Sensei, funny i asked over on aprilia.me if anyone was running one of these..they are about £140 here in the UK....did this increase the midrange ?
what were you running before for this to be better?

Have tryed Hooked type , Evo type , open top with Pod's etc , this with my setup has given the best power from idle to redline & the induction sound is just as good as my exhaust setup . I like it as it uses the stock box & intake also

thanks Sensei... what did you think of the "open top with pods"? as i cant afford a new airbox yet and thought this would be a cheap mod.

Couldn't seem to get it running good at bottom end not matter what I tried .... Just felt flat even after weeks of changing maps & chips ... Gave up before I hurt the motor

I was going for one of Tash's aswell. This other type states it has less induction noise though, i want the induction sound so put me off a bit.
I went for a run with the new boot on without closing the gap (havent made gaskets yet). I got more sound than standard but think its formed a bit of a flat spot at 5 grand with the standard airbox.

As far as induction noise goes the MWR make more than enough ..... & for me it's about the muffler sound not the airbox drowning it out .

Look interesting.. think the evo would work better though when its sealed properly!
