Hi all, not posted for a while and thought I would share my DV camera test with you. Bought one of the MD80 DV camera's off ebay ready for my track day at Cadwell next Sunday. Was a bit sceptical to say the leats at only having to pay £13 for a video camera but, I have to say, i am quite impressed with the picture quality. Tried sitting the camera on the seat cowl first but there was too kjuch vibration so, after a few tests, found the optimum position was Velcro'd to the bottom of the nose cone. Have a look at the results and let me know what you think:

Sorry about the poor editing, it is my first attempt though:dunno

Forgot to mention, I haven't worked out how to alter the time and date yet which is why it is showing 2008!

Nice work T, cant go wrong for 15 quid really!

I think mounted on rear fender pointing back for when I dust you at Cadwell will be a good shot, I will then make a montage :yes.

Here is how to set time and date, albeit STILL could not do it!

Only problem with mounting on the rear fender Dan is that I will only get a glimpse of you when I start recording and then you will be just a speck in the distance, lol!

Blimey,...thats pretty damn good for £13.Just be careful where you mount the camera if you record yerself on the road. The cops take a dim view of bike mounted cams,so make sure you have'nt done anything naughty on film. Two lads around here got done by the cops after filming themselves on the road.Silly boys had the camera's mounted on the tank,.....with the speedo in view.:coocoo

G man ... you bought a Drift HD ... have you tried it yet???????

Love the position of the camera ... picture is clear and bright but wavers.

I'm well impressed with the sound though ,,, no wind rush to speak of.

I have a Drift 170 and thus far have used it on a suction mount on the tank ,,, which is good but of course the screen and dash and my right hand are in shot. I quite like the effect though as it makes it more "personal"

I saw a Benelli TNT the other day and he's mounted his Drift on a bit of frame about knee high on RHS. To me the shot would be a bit odd.

Windy Miller has his atop his cranium.

I reckon you should post some track day stuff and call a vote

Just gotta suction mount off eBay that fits me standard digital camera.
Not tested it on the bike yet but used it on the car over as many pot holes/speed bumps as I could find and the picture quality is prety good. Will post some footage when I get some bike action:thumbup

Am impressed with that - was thinking of getting one for my trackday at Oulton next month. This just clinches it - cracking post.:thumbup

I have indeed newells. I first tried it mounted to a mirror stalk, worked well at lower speeds /revs but got blurry as buggery at high speeds. Then bought a motrax tank mount off e-bay - works well as the cam is rock solid, trouble is even on the highest position it's a bit too low - the bottom half of the screen is filled by the clocks and you can't see straight ahead which ain't great. Need to work out how to raise it slightly.

Overall though great picture quality (used it on the mtb as well and it copes ok with the constant jarring) and sound quality - well pleased with it.

When I get the time I'll edit a bit down and stick a link on here.

Keith B - great minds think a like. I did mount the camera on the tank but it wasn't a great view, apart from the speedo! My youngest wanted to post that on youtube but I said no, better not.

Newelly - I managed to catch that view with just velcro pads. I'm going to try and pack it with blue tack as well to see if that helps prevent the wavering. I will post the results once I have completed the trial. I will try and get some good footage from Cadwell and get that posted some time next week.

Jase - Glad you like it. I just wanted to show you all what the quality of the picture is like for £13, bargain!

Seriously ... aint technology great!?

A vid cam for £13 ffs!

Now we can get cheap fishing tackle, golf clubs, puters, phones, printers, cameras, tvs ... the only things that cost more than 10 years ago are alcohol, ****, fuel ... what else? Oh ... dirty wummen

When you give the thumbs up at the beginning I thought you look a bit young to be riding a "T".

Tell me your secret of eternal youth.
