Dunlop SportSmarts- 190/50 or 190/55?

Hey another boring tyre thread!

I'm going on tour around Europe in a few weeks and putting new hoops on before I go.
I'm definitely going with the new Dunlops but seeing as it will be predominantly touring and not scratching do you think I should go with the 50 rather than the 55 profile.
Do you think it would be pointless having the taller profile?

Regards Dave

The handbook doesn't give a 55 option with the 190, so I would say the 50 would be better. But then there are people on here who would probably advise better. I have just bought new tyres for mine and went with a 190/50 proflie as per the book, even though mine had a 55 fitted when I purchased it.

190/55 all the way.
ALL THE WAY. Like Jonty I run GP Racers and I'm very pleased with them, although they wear something rotten.

Sportsmarts will be my next tyre of choice for sure.

I have just fitted a dunlop qualifier 190/50/17 and its rubbing on the chain! ANd thats the tyre the book says. Profile doesn't look right either

Thanks for the replies peeps. Think I'll def be running 55 rear next tyre. Just got back from a blast around Europe on the new sportsmarts and I really rate them. I never had a slip and we were riding in heavy rain for half the time. Quite a few of the other lads had moments but not yours truly. I'll be sticking with these for a while but popping a 55 on next time round.
Just for the record every 190 ive put on rubs the chain, some worse than others but the most important thing to reduce it is keeping your chain correctly tensioned but a worn chain will always slap against the tyre regardless of tension.

Regards Dave

I have roadsmarts in a 190/50 and they did rub on the chain a tiny bit when I first fitted them. Could have been that the chain was a bit loose, but it wasn't that loose!!!
