Somebody else to add to the "Hero" list would be Alain (DrRossi) !!.

My new eprom arrived this morning , fitted this morning and tested this afternoon.

Starts even better, idles smoother and throttle response even crisper.
Engine seems more willing almost urgent.

Unfortunately I wasnt able to do more than a few miles as when I stopped at the petrol station to fill up it wouldnt start cleanly and the clocks reset, my paranoia wouldnt allow to do anything other than come straight home !, nothing to do with the new Eprom I am sure.

Sounds good Scott, about the Eprom I mean.

Have you had it on the Optimate?

Perhaps all those Guinea pigs you have in your garage have been nibbling away at your wires and stolen some of your Volts? LOL

Lives on the Optimate , which I reset every 2/3 days.

Could be the wiggy piggies, you know how vicious they can be !!

It was only a test eprom.
Works 10 miles until payment is confirmed. :biggrin

Good to hear it runs better.
To bad you have a electrical problem.:rant
Please keep me posted!:dowhat

LOL, you shouldn't say things like that Alain, I'm worried now!!!

Sounds like Scott needs his throttle bodies balancing and his CO set up.

That's all it'll be.

It came with instructions how to set it up.
That´s al there is to it.
9 out of 10 run great with this setup.
Let´s wait and see ...

Well last week i had a look to see which Eprom was fitted to my MIlle and to my surprise i found a 549 eurokat d Eprom which some bright spark must have fitted before i got the bike.
I PM'd DrRossi and he informed me that this chip belonged in a 04 - 05 Tuono and not my bike.
Anyway DrRossi has been VERY helpful and patient and i invested in one of his special RP58 Eproms which arrived very promptly.
Easy to fit and the bike runs sweet - no issues.
The best way to describe this chip is the bike runs the way it should - like the way you wanted it to before you got DrRossis Eprom.
That surging thing that the bike used to do at low revs is GONE and it is smoother all through the revs but most noticably at town speed/revs.
If you buy one youll save the money you spent on it in youre clutch cos you wont be riding it as much.
I can get on the gas quicker coming out of corners now :thumbup

Thanks DrRossi

DrRossi 2001 RSV EPROM's

OK.

I had a PC3 fitted to my 2001 RSV and it was performing well but I'm a tinkerer by and fancied a change. So the PC3 went to a good home (Mick :thumbup) and I invested in one of DrRossi's all singing all dancing EPROMS for the 2001 big valve motors.

It arrived after around 4 - 5 days, not DrRossi's fault was my fault for buying a house in a village that still thinks it's in the late 18th Century. One delivery of post a day and that's usually delivered at around 1pm or later.

Workshop

So, I set off down to my shed armed with the DrRossi EPROM and detailed instructions. 5 minutes later the ECU had been removed and opened to reveal the old Eprom was an RP58. Out it came and in went the DrRossi one, I applied a small dab of silicone adhesive so stop it vibrating loose and on went the cover.

The ECU was then placed back in the guts of the bike and all removed parts where refitted. Now came the moment of truth, I positioned the fast idle lever at 60% so that it would fire up and fast idle, hit the start button and it sprung in to life.

I have to admit that nothing seemed different and I was a little dismayed but at least it started!! I turned it off and went down to the house to get my helmet and boots on, ready for a test ride.

Test Ride

When I first set off the bike felt so much different, a good different too!! The engine seemed to respond to throttle changes so much more eagerly and it was a breeze round town. No more shunting and feathering the clutch to maintain a steady speed.

I managed to restrain myself going through the villages but when I got to the lanes I had to let it go and boy did it go. The power delivery was amazing, smooth and no huge gaps, plus it seemed to last longer in the rev range.

I came back from my ride out with a huge grin on my face and absolutely knackered, amazing how something so small can make you grin so much.

hi mate , are you saying the eprom performed better than the pciii? any advice welcome before the wallet comes out.

In short yes!

Only explanation I can offer is that the PC3 had not been custom mapped to my bike but had a pretty good fine tuned map downloaded from the DynoJet website.

Had the PC3 been set up on a Dyno then I can only presume that it would have been much better.

If I was to compare the DrRossi EPROM to the PC3 in financial terms then the EPROM would win hands down.

In a few years time when I'm bored of that seemless power delivery I may stray and buy another PC3 and get me some Dyno time.

I have the DrRossi EPROM, Hooked Airbox, freeflow exhaust and a 15 tooth front sprocket.

Makes for some good riding. :doug

I have 57mm tb, dr rossi chip, pc3 all to be custom mapped and sync on 16th by griff, excited, me , just a little :doug:doug

Alain, i will send info as soon as i get it mate:thumbup

Why would you need the rossi chip if your getting a pc111 and dynoed :confused

I think you should give me the chip :biggrin

Agreed, if your fitting a PC3 then depending on what PC3 you fit the EPROM becomes redundant.

Try the Eprom first then if your not content get the PC3 and dyno the bike for a custom map.

Will save you money and guaranteed to make you smile, all that extra money to spend on fuel. :doug

Hi guys don't forget that a PC only takes care of fuelling!!
In Ignition is a lot to gain.
Since he has a adjusted eprom the ignition maps are ok.
But he has 57mm TB's and He schould have a go at a dyno to look at his Air To Fuel Ratio.
Then deceide if he want to smoke a tyre :devious

I thought that some of the new PC3 USB models allowed some control over the ignition too?

I'll have a look and post up what I can find.
