Hi all, I have found some really good information in all your posts, and would like to ask a couple of questions if I may.

The pic I have downloaded shows my bike and my mates. They are 2 numbers apart on the production line. They both have the forged rims, and every blue one I have seen in Oz has them , but none of the other colours have them except the factory, is this only an Australian thing or do other countries have the same situation.

Secondly my headlights seem to be reversed, the top ones are the low beams and the bottom ones are the high beams, the manual seems to say the opposite and I have to have the beams adjusted as low as I can get them.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

those are TuonoR's...what leads you to belive the wheels are forged and not the usual cast alui?

Low beams ARE the top ones, the manual has a few discrepancies - back axle is shown with the nut on the left etc.

All gen 2 Tuono's had blue OZ looky-likey wheels from 06 through 07. Only in 08 did the wheel colours change to reflect the bike colours. The blue OZ wheels are fitted to gen 1 Tuono Factory models and mille/rsv's. From 07 on Oz stopped supplying Aprilia and the forged wheels are made by the same company that makes the cast ones, 08 on they are gold anodized.

Side by side the spokes are thicker on the cast wheels than on the forged ones.

Does this mean the blue forged looky likey wheels are the same weight as standard or are they lighter?

Because they have "EVO FORGED MT" stamped into the rim, and they are dull anodised rather than shiny like the cast ones. also they have the 90 degree valve stems just like on the factory. My mates one has the same rims and so do the factory rims I have seen. They are definately tuono R's though. I wish I had a factory!

Are they OZ ?
We had this debate a little while ago and no one else except Factory's had them valves.

jammy pair of twats! :yes

oh well...at least we won the cricket :lol

Sounds like forged wheels then, lucky b@stards.

(and i couldn't give a fook about the cricket.)

They are made by technosomebodyoranother, I've read a post somewhere over on Af1 about who makes them for Aprilia. Oz ditched the whole bike wheel market apparently :dunno But they are pretty much the same wheel.

So, let me get this reet. They've got the older Factory wheels on a R ?

sounds like it, not sure exactly when the Oz wheels stopped being used, but it sounds like they got forged rims on R models. :dunno

well ...evri days a school day in the auld T Zone... ah huv aye wondered aboot the lights cos they fairly dazzle the **** oota oncoming at night....ah wiz aye gettin flash at so tried adjustin thim doon in line wi manual but it nivir seemed enuff so jist lived wi it ( a typical Rico response by the way) and let the bams flash awa!

I think for some reason a few people with the dream blue bikes got forged rims, most of the aussie bikes used in promotions around that time where dream blue ones

If you look at this one it is from the dealer on the gold coast where my mates bike was bought, scroll down and it has forged rims too, it is either my mates bike or some other lucky bugger with forged rims too.
Good to see that other people have the same experience with the lights though. I can't get my lights down low enough and the high beams are virtually useless.

Ffs, they put their spare OZ wheels on the OZ shipment bikes.

Sorted ya fuds.

Not wishing to be a pedant but you can still buy OZ motorbike wheels.

http://www.bikehps.com/oz/

yes you do :)

I am not 100% on the Oz bit, I know they don't supply Aprilia anymore, and Aprilia's new supplier is supposed to have bought the tooling from Oz to manufacture the wheels, might just be urban myth. Quite possibly Piaggio weren't paying their bills :dunno

Of course HPS might just be flogging off old stock.......

probably does come across as me being a pedant but you can buy Oz wheels in many bike places. I don't think they stopped making them , just stopped supplying Aprilia.

I think Griff told me the later bikes wheels are made in Japan.

When I first got my T I was forever being flashed by car drivers who obviously thought I had high beam on. One prick in a Beemer went so mental he nearly stacked his car while flashing his lights, honking his horn, shaking his fist, and shouting at me . Tool. I've since adjusted the lights downwards and to the left, still get the odd bit of abuse but it's much better.

I'd rather dazzle a few fuckers and be seen by everyone anyway.
