Does anybody know where i can get a Flywheel puller

Does anybody know where i can get a Flywheel puller for my 02 rsv? Im currently in the process of replacing my sprag clutch but i havent got the correct size flywheel puller.
If anybody has one they could lend me i would really appreciate it.

I have an 05 RSV and serviced the sprag and replaced the stator (actually Ive done that twice now...!) If you can buy a high tensile 22mm x 1.5 pitch bolt that has about 45mm of thread then that should do it (assuming it's the same as the 05 model). I purchased the flywheel puller from AF1 in the states, it cost bugger all but the postage to Australia was pretty expensive so I bought a heap of carbon bits to make it worth while! Just make sure when you remove the flywheel that you use a heat gun to loosen the Loctite whilst applying pressure on the puller. Don't use a hot flame cos it'll bugger the magnets (you probably know what you're doing anyway). Good luck
 
I had to take my flywheel off a couple of times when I did my sprag (for the first time) and it doesnt half go off with a pop when it comes off the shaft lol! Caught me out every time :)
 
why would a flame damage the magnets? Im abit concerned as i dont have any electric in my garage so was gona use a plumbers torch which is a small confined flame. do i need to lock the crank in place to make it easier? i have already got the flywheel bolt off without locking the crank. Thanks for your advice
 
I've heard of it happening before where the flywheel was removed with a very hot flame and the when it was reassembled the charging system was up the **** due to the magnets being damaged by the flame. I guess if you're careful and gentle enough, then... your call mate! It pays to lock the engine, theres a special length bolt you can get (there should be a thread on here somewhere with a photo or two showing which bolt hole it is.. its on the RHS down low and the bolt is rather long so that it locates the crank at TDC i think?) I guess you could give it a go without locking tho, maybe chuck it in gear with your mate forcing down on the rear brake (cos they're ********* the rear brakes) however I'm talking solely about the 05 RSV, the 02 maybe different? good luck
 
hi bud never use any hot flames near the flywheel its not the magnet that ***** up its the insulation between the magnet and the outer body of the flywheel then its a dead short and goodnight to your sweet running mille im sure its the same with all bike flywheels so big defo no go whith a hot flame:thumbup

I used a plumbers torch with no problems, remember, your only warming it up gently not trying to melt it!
 
True. If ya go easy then it should be ok. The only thing that concerned me at the time was parts availability and the price. Aprilia dealers in oz want more than their pound of flesh, that's if the parts are available to start with!
 
well i did it with a plumbers torch it was easy really all i have to do now is finish putting the rest of it together and then try it out.

after a weekend away from her i have finally finished putting her together again. cgarged battery aswell. filled with fresh oil and voila!!! she has never started so easy in all the time i have had her so defo worth doing! chuffed to bits. Now i can book her in for mot and ill be legal again.
