just putting a new 190/50 ZR 17 Metz Racetec M1 on my T, but found some info on a site saying only a 190/55 ZR 17 Metz Racetec M1 should be on the T. The original was a Metzeler Rennsport 190/50ZR17....

need I be worried? Any advice please guys?

Shoulda gone with a 180 in my humble opinion. Turns in much quicker.

Just see how it runs. All its likely to do is alter the Geometry a bit surely due to different ride height

You can fit 180/55, 290/50 or 190/55 they all work.

I run 180/55, as Bay says they turn quicker, and you really don't need those 190's on a Tuono.

The 50 is the tyre wall is 50% of the tyre width 190mm so its 95mm

55% of 190 is 107mm

What that means the 50 is the tyre will be wide and low making the profile flatter

A flatter tyre makes for steady turn in and a steeper tyre like the 108/55 makes for fast turn in

All depends how you ride you pick the tyre to suit

But you have to take into account the tyre you pick aswell, they may say 190 wide but they can be 185-195 which i found out when my bike would not fit in a my stand

Also each tyre has its own profile there not all the same shape, my Supecorsa bsb is like mount everest very sharp

G'day from Tasmania
I just re-logged on although I've changed ID.
I tried the smaller tyre width path to help turn in to corners. Works well until you run out of tyre tred area and start using the side wall!
*** they turn faster then trying to highside you. Personally I don't undersize tyres anymore, and you can get to the outer edge of 190 width tyres on the road. :)
You just have to by fanging hard and have the great cornering roads we have in this part of the world. The rich sods close some of our roads to hold their Targa Tasmania road races for a week,(*******s don't allow motorcycles to enter, as we would woop their fat arses!).
GO FOR THE WIDE OPTION AND HAVE A GO!!!!

I run a 190/55 and am thinking of trying a 180 just to a) see what the difference in handling is, and b) it's $60 cheaper than the 190.

i replaced my brigestone 023 lately (great tyre btw). i put on a 180/55 for a change and it feels/acts perfect on the tuono with no grip problems. (makes 1st gear power wheelies smoother as well believe it or not) I think it's much better than the 190/50's i always used b4.

I had the 180 on the tuoldo ..was ok but I have the 190 on the T now and it is easier to flick from one side to the other

doot if ah wid notice the difference

I'm thinking the same. I've never been too much into the science of bikes or riding, I just get on and ride the things as fast as I can (which isn't very..)

All modern bikes and tyres are so damn good I don't think mere mortals like me can tell a huge amount of difference between them.
