Do I really need APRC?

Is this V4 manageable without all the electronics?
I'm a reasonably experienced rider and used to accelerating without TC and braking without ABS.
I'd be interested in your opinions!
Thanks
Booney

I would say no you dont need the APRC, I have the 2012 model so dont have the ABS. The one thing I do like is the quick shift. I have the traction control set low, never used the launch control. So the only thing that gets used really is the anti wheelie.
But on the other hand its nice to know the traction control is there to hopefully catch any misfortune I couldnt. Does give me abit more confidence when riding in the wet aswell.

Thanks for the info Robbie. A quick shifter would certainly help ease the strain on my injured wrist, but not sure I can justify all the extra dosh. Apart from a few Beemers I've never had ABS so guess what you haven't had you don't miss!

I have never had any electronic gizmos on my bike up until the TV4.

I have come from a run of 1000cc sportsbikes and learned to control the throttle rather than rely on electronics to save me.

That said................. I love the aprc package on the V4.

As Robbie said the quickshifter is silky smooth and I like the fact that if I do get a little eager with the throttle mid corner the traction control will and has sorted it out.

the hardest part for me was learning to trust the electronics and allow the traction control to do it's job rather than backing off of the throttle.

Never used launch control cos to be honest I think I would bottle it if I tried.

Traction control is usually (in summer) set to 3 and anti wheelie is either off on set to 1.

Its certainly manageable without APRC but the bike is better with it. If you can afford the APRC version then that's the one to get. If you cant then the non-APRC is still a great bike to own.

I can understand TC for the wet etc. I just don't get the launch control for the road or anti wheelie. Why would you even think about inventing that. On a serious note I'm sure the basic V4T came came with the quick shifter

You would never have the anti wheelie turned on :thumbup

Seriously though, you can set the anti wheelie so that you can keep the throttle pinned wide open and the front will hover before being put back down again by the electronic wizard that lives under the tank :thumbup

Not really needed for the road, but a great asset for the odd track day.

Launch control as well I see as a track only option.

love the quick shifter but all other options anti wheelie launch control switched off ..traction control on 2 or 3 .turn up a bit if caught in the rain...cheers

I'm with bash and rizla on this front, never had any electronics before and loved a little slide or two :) traction is on 2-3 no wheelie control, set in 'T' mode all the time, I have tried the launch control twice but kindo bottled it the second time round when the front wheel started skimming the road, good to try it though :) I love the way the rear end starts to slide to the point where you're thinking about a bit more over steer then it just pulls you back in and then slides again :thumbup :thumbup ooooh when will summer come round again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to have these electronic aids, that said mines set on T and TC on 3 all the time except when it's pissing down, then I dial my TC up a bit, never used WC or LC and I also love the QS! a must on every sport bike! So in my opinion better to have than not.

Emmmm, sounds like Yes then!
+£2k though:wow
Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.......

hey, does quick shifting need to be set/turned on, or is it automatic? manual, per usual, says nada.

It is already on if you have it and will work above 4000rpm.

Not that I reccomend using the quickshifter at low revs and part throttle opening.

I have mine set to 1, but cant see the difference between 1,2 or 3 to be honest.

TC I have on 4, LC I have never used.
