Hi all, I bought my 2005 RSV R a few months back, it has fantastic sounding titanium arrowe cans fitted, i run them with the baffles removed. I have heard people talking about the engine mapping and changing it due to have non-original cans fitted, does anyone know if this is the case, and if so how do i go about it? If i am running the wrong map could this affect the top end, as it doesn't seem to want to go alot faster than 110 mph which seems a bit low for one of these beasts, or is that likely to be the sprockets the previous owner fitted??

Cheers.

You should get map2 loaded through a Aprila dealer & check what gearing is on 16/43 is a good ratio for still good top end & nice power low down . While getting Map2 done if it hasn't already then do the sync of throttle body's etc to make sure things are all good

Thanks for your replies, yeah i thought that aswell, 110 is def a bit short for rsv, will have to get it looked at, the top speed reached is still on the clocks and is 176 which is more like i was expecting, the bike runs perfect other than that so it's a bit odd. Will get the map checked out to, to see which one it's running.

Just tried that gearing commander link above, cheers Paul, what a great bit of kit,

i was only reving at about 6500rpm -7000rpm at the time in 6th, with a 42 rear sprocket, that calculator reckons 102mph should have been about right for those conditions, so happy with 110 in that case, if i'd taken it to the 10000rpm it should have hit 160 according to the figures on the calculator, mystery solved.

I did see a thread on another forum about some bikes having the throttle bodies restricted.. some kind of bolt in the bodies stoping them opening fully. Might be worth taking the tank off and having a look in theair box to make sure yours are opening fully when you twist the throttle...
