Do baffles affect power?

Hi all, I've just done my first track day, did Snetterton on Friday. What an unbelievably good day! Absolutely loved it. Sad times I've just got addicted at the end of the summer...

I had to put in my baffles for the day and having taken them out now, my bike feels as though it's got a bit more grunt. Do the baffles reduce it's power when in??

Thanks

The cans are Devil if that makes a difference?? And as we're on the conversation of pipes, does anyone have a pair of Akropovic pipes that are for sale? I think I prefer the sound of them to my devils.

as above, yes
all down to air/fuel ratios as well but baffles generally restrict gas flow in the process of deadening sound

The baffles hardly make any difference at all to the horsepower,...mebbe 1 or 2 bhp.
They can effect the way the power comes in,giving the impression of more grunt. The reality is,you are probably losing a little midrange power,...then coming on strong at the top end.

decent cans can make a diff. on my incurably powerful Hornet F600BC - the old exhaust gives much more low down, huge hole in the middle then woosh. I had a pipe werx . there's no difference baffles in or out whether noise or not.

My T is definitely diff with baffles in than then they're out, mid range is a huge difference I'm running twin Akras. Never used the std cans

My point behind this tiresome story being it depends....:crazy

I think that two things come into play here.

1, The laws of physics. i.e. a less restrictive exhaust and inlet will allow the engine to breath easy and use less power to push the gasses out while being able to suck in more air through a less restricted inlet.

2, To get the best out of the above you really need either a custom tune or to run auto tune on a pcv otherwise you could end up with less power than you started with.

Just my 2p worth.

And for what it's worth, I run an open AR can, a pipercross filter and a Gabro race mapped ecu and my butt dyno tells me that these mods have added at least 200bhp and 100 torques.

Well that's what it feels like to me :lol
