hi anyone know if front discs off later mille will fit 02 model as ive got a warped one and have seen some later model discs on ebay thanks

Thread jack! Also after some disc advice.
Mine has recently had new brembo discs fitted. How long does does it take for them to bed in to full performance do you think? As they dont inspire much confidence from big speeds. :dunno

really? these are awesome stoppers ..did it have new pads at the same time?

Steve, You should really always change pads when you change discs. The pads are bedded to the contours of the discs and when knew smooth discs are fitted the contact area of the pad is comprimised. the will end up scoring the discs and giving premature wear. chusk some carbon lorraines in and after a bit of bedding (and warming up) you will get vertical as the brembo disca are top notch. I get confused why people would change them for anything else? LOL

yep what he says..think some people just change them for looks but there is nothing wrong with the standard brakes at all a slong as they are all in condition etc

Not all the discs are the same!!!
02 Model onwards are all the same.
1999-2001 discs have a larger swept area, this is because the pads in the 2 pad caliper type require a larger swept area. If you fit a disc from a 4 pad caliper bike to a 2 pad caliper the pads will overlap the edge of the material.

Cool will do. Had good experiences with carbon lorraines. Which compound you recommend for this for fast road with odd trackday in the fast group?

In my opinion the best pads you can get for fast road track riding are SBS RS pads. Comparable to the Brembo race pads I tried once and less than half the price.

I use them on my track bike.

i had sbs ones in the R1 in my avatar.
But they were shocking to the point of dangerous on the road. They were the ones that coat the disc in stuff as part of the bedding in process? Good on the track mind, but personally seemed a little less consistant compared to the carbon lorraines I had on the RVF (wish I could remember the compound!)
Dunno what compound they were though... I`ll have a look and see if I can remember which ones...

Think you probably had the DC (dual carbon) pads. No good for the road as they need to run hot. I know loads of lads who run the RS on road and track with no problems.

Sure I paid about £40 for both calipers. Send Mark (XPS) a PM see if he can sort you out.

By the way Carbon Lorraines are not carbon compound just incase you were wondering why they were different.

Hi m8 you canny go wrong wi brembo track and road , tried other pads on the ape and most have the same feel and power but only last a fraction of the time and at the end of the day you pay for quality and when it comes down to it if you do allot of track work the pads take a kicking and the rest of the makes just don't last.......

have you tried carbone lorraines badger?

I put brembo pads on my 08 R6 and was abit disappointed byran, bloody expensive too!
Not sure what compound.

They good, but not AWESOME like I was hoping. Again they were good on track but not immense.
You ever used CL`s?

Yes I have tried CL used to have them on my old zx6r. Good pads but lacked feel. Well thats what I blame the two times I lost the front on anyway haha
