Can anybody tell me,was all the early milles restricted when new. I have a 2001 RSV1000R and wondered if i need to cut ecu wire and if there is a restrictor plate on air box.
Any info or good links to this would be great, it may already be done but not sure what to look for.:confused

Read the instructions first or visit the website mentiont :dunno
I did not send you all that stuff to be used as toilet paper :eatcorn

Good luck

All were restricted when they left the factory, but usually they will have been derestricted (snipping the wire) by dealer prior to selling...there's a thread on here about it with pictures I believe!...Very rare to find an unrestricted bike though.

:thumbup Cheers for that, little lost on the set by pass at 2.5 front and 1-1.5 rear, and trimmers to 12 0 clock.
I had my bike throttle body synchronisation and exhaust co check done by fusebox at xmas time, but he could not adjust the co because the chip would not activate the trimmers.
So would i be ok just to set trimmers to 12 0 clock or does the synchronisation need doing again.:confused

If Fusebox (Griff) has set this up (even without the CO adjustment) I wouldn't touch it now. I reckon you will not be able to improve on his adjustments.

Well I hooked him up with a Eprom with the trimpots activated.
So he might want to turn the screws in and count the turns.
Turn em back as they were and report back please.

:thumbup I will turn trim screws to 12 0 clock now they are activated, and will leave throttle balance screws because griff set them up at xmas. Will let you know settings on them, was going to do it today but been snowed in know.:angry Let you know how it goes when the weather changes so i can get out.

guys the trim screws need checkin with a CO metre.........
if your careful you can check it by ear but its not accurate. you'll hear the engine running lumpy on tickover until there right in which case you'll hear that the exhaust pulses are evenly spaced, and you wont hear that stumble as one cylinder slightly misfires..
The by pass screw on the throttle bodies will be fine as physically the engine hasnt changed , it will be the trims that need the tweek, as youve changed the map.

please, i dont mean to rain on anyones fire but it really does help if this particular job is done correctly, same as throttle cable tension, if this is done correctly then it transforms a good bike into a really good bike!

hope this helps??

any advice then just call!

Hi you don't rain on anyones fire, you're knowledge is usefull.
I just send him a Original RP58 to make te pots work.
It's true he needs to have his Co checkt but to start with the trimpots on 12 o clock is just a base.
Maybe you could tune em for him when he is in the neighbourhout
By the way do you recall how you set the bypass screws?
Did you use a Carbtune?

Cheers

Cheers dude !
no we dont use a carbtune im afraid we use genuine kawasaki vaccum gauges and weve got two different types of gas analyser the genuine aprilia five gas and a gunson single gas which is brilliant!

We set the vacuums first then adjust each trim screw individually to 3.5 % the dyno work we did shows that this seems to work thew best..

cheers
