Hi to all. As i'm now nearly the wrong end of 40 and did a 1400 mile trip to Belgium and Germany last yr my 1999 RRX fireblade made me realise its time for a change. I bought an adventure bike as well but deciding whether to px my blade for a 2005 tuono. Im not sure of the exact model but its the silver and red one with r on the side. Insurance were a bit perplexed as well. Took it for a run and it was mad but loved it apart from the wind buffering. Any thing i should be wary of or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,
Had my 54 plate for 3 plus years now and absolutely no regrets after changing over from a sports bike. Yep you can take a buffering in the wind, but good for the neck muscles tho. A decent aftermarket double bubble screen defo helps - mine was from Powerbronze but various other ones available on ebay.
Personally I have had no issues with my bike but google 'known tuono problems' and there's a very good article on Tuonoworld website written by Keith B - this link might work but can't guarantee it

Tuono known problems/hints/tips.

Good luck you wont regret it.

As you say, you took it for a test ride, did you like it ?

It's a bike with a little fairing, you are going to get blown about a bit if you go fast.

It's Italian, that means character, that means a few problems occasionally.

But I have had mine a few years now and it's a keeper.

Does it have 1 exhaust can or 2? Gen 1 has 1, gen 2, yep you guessed 2
I had my gen 2 over 4 years and loved it. I had a 954 blade yrs ago, and there's no comparison.

Rodders, I'm 68 and have an '08 V2 since new. If you look at some of the discussions you will note that the gen 1 has had issues with stator failures. Mine's a gen 2 and I replaced one at 8k. As for the windscreen, I put a Puig screen on and like it a lot. It's about 5-6" taller than OEM. I love the V2 and am thinking of moving on to the V4. Age is a state of mind. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
Have fun whilst you can.

Thanks for the replies. I like the look of the twin exhausts but either way its a completely different riding experience. Very fast acceleration and you can point it into a corner and it watch it go. Literally.
There aren't that many about and might look for a gen 2 one now. Getting it in neutral was a nightmare until it was warm.

That Daytona for sale sounds nice but on a budget unfortunately. Looking to pay about 3 1/2 k

I ve taken the plunge for a 2005 tuono fighter. Is this a gen 1 or 2.? Still unsure of specific models. I've seen a rear seat cowel but its for a gen 2. Getting a bit worried about the starting issues as well. Not picked it up yet. Any advice on starting from cold.?
Thanks

It's a Gen1, one of the last models and a good machine, I didn't have any starting issues with mine, pull the cold start lever and push the button, no throttle.
It should then fire up no bother. Most of the niggles will have been sorted by now.

Thanks ash its put my mind at rest especially having never owned one before. Any recommendations for an exhaust? Or leave standard one on.

I had a full twin Akra system on mine, but they are a bit thin on the ground now, Mivv were doing good deals, it's a case of seeing what's about on the Bay or round the forums, try a wanted thread on here. I know that Roy on here has got an Akra can and link pipe for sale
I think he also has a chip for it as well, see the other thread on here, I will vouch for him.
