Ive got the system 3 installation instructions here somewhere,& I need them at the moment to find the ' trigger' wire so I can setup a second blipper, they are not to bad to bypass,a wire for the solinoid & one for the fuel pump

:dunno Dunno why my reply has gone to the start of the thread?

Hi Guys,

I'm not too technical but does anyone know how to get rid of this item?

I have one on my Edwards but it will not "despike" the immobiliser will not respond and the bike will not start so I want rid of it.

I guess a PM may be best?

Thanks

I've found a possible way to bypass which I shall try probably tomorrow.

Two paperclips needed to short out two lots socket connections.

If it works, I'll make a permanent job with wire bypass as it means I don't have to mess about with the loom.

Also if it works, I'll make the details available via PM.

Hello mate your best off sending a pm to Griff, or search aprilia performance and give him a ring.

Are you sure the immobilzer is not just in sleep mode. If the bike's not used for a few weeks then these things go into sleep mode. Read the datatool instructions on how to deactivate

Yes cheers guys.

Legs, it's not in sleep mode. I've apparently "spiked" it by removing the (bikes good charged up) battery (and not removing the inline alarm fuse first).

I've then tried to despike it and it will not not despike. This seems to be not uncommon issue.

There are meant to be Datatool Blanking plugs (which reconnect the wires if you remove the loom from the data tool box) but you cannot buy them very easily.

This is according to datatool on how to despike

System Draining Instructions.
Use these if the alarm system has been spiked.
1. Remove lid from main alarm unit.
2. Unplug PCB (printed circuit board).
3. Remove from case
4. Remove internal battery from PCB.
5. Remove In-Line fuse.
Leave these parts out over a period of at least 6 hours, to allow the system to drain
completely.
With the bikes battery still in place and fully charged.
1. Replace PCB.
2. Replace In-Line fuse.
3. The alarm will sound for a period of aprox. 30 seconds.
4. Allow the system to reset itself.
5. Replace internal battery onto PCB.
6. Make sure all connections are complete.
7. Re-Align the remote – Press and hold both buttons for a period of 5 seconds, then
press the circle button.

Is this what you've tried to despike it. Might be worth giving them a call just to confirm

Yes ta Legs, that is exactly what I have done - numerous times.

I'm gonna drop their support desk a email.

I agree.......

Mine left me stranded twice and on both occasions it was a rescue to home by the AA. Needless to say I had it taken out the following day. Cost £60. Premium on insurance £0...

Yes I hate blooming immobilisers, my other bike has one on (a Banshee) and it's gone funny on me once this time for no apparent reason.

Im definately going to get rid.

I have seen a method to "short out" two specific pairs of connectors on the loom to PCB block to bypass the alarm without having to mess with the loom (I won't say exactly which pairs of connections on the forum) and yet the bike will not start.

PM hints welcomed!

Thanks

Mark

I've managed to sort it. I found a dodgey 30a fuse (which the manual says is a spare) changed that fuse and managed to unspike the alarm. Now the bike runs.

I did find out the 2 pairs of theoretical alarm bypass connectors though and will get round to bypassing the blinking thing!

i took the immob side of my alarm off as it kept cutting the bike out but left the noise bit on so it still goes off
