Cutting out at low revs when cold

D

When my bike is cold it has a tendancy to cut out when I am down changing gears i.e coming up to a set of traffic lights down changing from 2nd to 1st.

When running nice and warm there isn't an issue, bike runs sweet, it just when it is cold.

Any ideas?

yeah mine does to ,, i just always let mine warm up before i ride :thumbup

Strange, when I bought it I was told it was feature of big twins!

Does go rapidly once warm!

I love just looking at her, when she is warming up and the noise ,,, priceless !!

i was told by the dealer who i got my 2005 rsvr factory to always let it warm up to 60c before riding off
cheers jonty

My 01 always does it - either warm it up properly or keep the colt start lever cracked a little to keep the tickover up until it's warm.

could be the throttle bodies need tweeking, also have you the latest version of MAP2 installed on the Ecu?

Mine cut out when I first picked it up, tweaked the throttle body screws and it cured it instantly. Someone had been playing with them, the front was about half a turn out from closed and the rear was two full turns out, just.

I got the initial settings off a thread on this forum but for the life of me I can't find them at the moment.

Found it here - Click Me

Mine starts fine and needs virtually no warm up time, here in California!:nana

Don't forget were talking an 04 bike here which has auto idle control.

As legs said FI setup/old map or a leak in the small pipes to the map sensor on the left side of the Tb's. They are well known to become brittle and split or develop pins holes.

When mine went brittle i swapped them for some lovely silicone pipe that you can get from a Garden machinery shop. It's used for fuel lines on Mowers etc.
