Cut the wire

I've heard that if you cut a certain wire next to the ecu, it changes the fuel mapping or something to make the engine run better or quicker. Can anyone tell me how this works, which wire etc.
I've just changed from standard can to a stainless, carbon can co. one and wondered if it would be better to do the mod.
I,ve not ridden it yet with the new can but it sure sounds good.

I'm told that no mods are needed with the new can by the way but if cutting the wire makes it run better, i'm all for it.

The wire was to de restrict the bike for countries that didn't run the 100bhp Eu limit.
On Uk bikes the wire should have been cut by the dealer from new as well as a few other changes to de restrict it.

A few slipped through the net un cut but not many. There is no race map as is sometimes reported on the oem chip just restricted or not.

also check the top hat restrictor has been removed from under the airfilter :)

for the wire lift the seat and look at the right hand plug at the front of the ecu...to check the wire

I noticed when I put my standard can back on for the Mot that it still had the restrictor in the link pipe fitted!

Don't know how that got missed as the wire had been cut and the airbox restrictor removed.
Mind you knowing the monkeys that sold it when new nothing would surprise me,I pity anyone who buys an RSV4 from them as they don't stand a chance.

Where's the restrictor located in the pipe Ian.

If you look down the link pipe it's a long tapered star shaped thing welded in,it actually strangles the gas flow down dramatically. I haven't bothered removing it as it's only used for the MOT then the baffle less carbon Scorpion that the bike was set up for goes back on.

Thanks mate. I'll have a look at that this weekend as well.
