Got a creak from the back wheel on my 02 Mille, had it before and managed to clear it by stripping the back wheel down and cleaning it up (several times!!). It creaks once per revolution. Any ideas what is actually causing it?

Mine creaks aswell Gaz I need to clean and lube the cush drive rubbers.

Any ideas Colin on what lube them up with.??

check chain( a roller seized) clean it thoroughly re- adjust thats all i'm saying:biggrin

if you over tighten the rear axle nut it can cause a creak also, loosen the bolt 1/4 of a turn and see if it goes away...
good luck..

double check the sprocket mounting nuts are tightened ..... inspecting both sides of the sprocket.

gonna be some form of drive chain issue ...... you can rule out rear disc / brake binding ..................... they don't even bind when ya stand on the brake pedal :rotfl

Cheers guys, lots to consider. Reckon its time to remove the wheel and strip her down again. Will start by checking torque settings before I go mad...would hate to miss a bit of sunshine having the wheel out...:biggrin

I'd check the chain first as rs3 says before you start stripping it down :thumbup

My 04 Fac, I get a "binding" sound when I tightened the rear axle nut to the specified 88.5 ftLbs.........maybe my torque wrench is shagged, but it seems bastid tight is all I can say before it clicks at what it thinks is 88.5 ftlbs.:confused

I loosened the nut very slightly, peraps by 10ftlbs and it seems to have gone away. The nut is a nyloc nut anyways, so should not come loose I hope. When the Griff miester comes down next month I will get him to check my torque wrench out with a comparison with his........mine's a cheap Machine Mart jobbie, his, no doubt will be something like a snap on..............:thumbup

Whatever you do dont ask Griff to show you his "Torque Wrench"!!!!! You have been warned........:devious

have you found the problem yet gaz ?

just asking as mine creeks when the rear wheel is spun by hand

yea sounds like same prob as mine Tez, gonna hit it tomorrow. I had the problem last year and after having the wheel on and off several times, stripped and cleaned and a few magic words from Griff it went away...alas its back!!

STL shes not off the road...always up for a ride out, Moggi has my number.

Its sorted. Wheel off, good old fashioned clean up, clean chain & lube, jobs a good un....for now at least!!!
