can someone recommend some good quality crash bungs that dont require bodywork modification?
Thanks
MD

The lower R&G crash bungs don't require bodywork modification but the upper ones do. It's a case of drilling a hole in the fairing infill panel. I don't know of any upper crash bungs that don't require some for form of modification to the bodywork on 2001 RSV mille.

i know the lower stlye ones work really well on later r1's without the upper ones.
anyone know if the lower ones in conjunction with the bar ends will keep the tank off the floor in a spill?
Thanks
MD

Just be aware the lower R&G bungs do tend to catch your legs when your at lights with feet down or when paddling round can seem a bit off putting at first but you do get use to it ....well i did :thumbup

Rawly

I dont buy stuff from R&G anymore. I have some history with them.. nuff said...lol

Just a warning about "no name" sliders (and probably other products) I had "ebay" sliders on my R1 when I binned it at brands , cost me a frame , tank and a myriad of other bits. Fast forward a year and I had R&G upper and lower slider when I got nerfed off again at Brands...........................rode the bike home that night and to work the next day.
Take from that what you may but I wouldn't trust any non "no name" safety kit.

i have had R&G products fail on me twice now, with very expensive consequences... they all use the same grade nylon, it's purely down to design on an individual bike basis

I only referenced R&G as thats what I had fitted, they may/may not all use the same nylon but the fitting kits seem suspect, plus you have no come back.

and yes I accept that R&G and any name brand for that matter can and do fail.

i had and still have R & G's when i lowsided my rsv last year at about 40mph up the cat n fiddle. only needed new clutch lever and footpeg. oh and the exhaust was a bit bent abd a scratch on the tail. glad i had them on or would have been a lot worse

I did see some which were advertised as fitting without having to mod the fairing - they were on a bracket which came out from behind the fairing to give a mounting point. Sorry, can't find the link now. Frankly though, banging down a quarter of a ton of bike and rider onto some bungs with a 3-4" moment of force from the mount does not seem like sound mechanical sense to me.

exactly, I know the ones made like that for R1's were bending and the end of the bracket was punching a hole in the side of the engine!!!!!!
