Couple of things

The bike went in for its first service last week. mentioned the problem with selecting first gear and they contacted Aprilia. Their answer is that it should free up at about 2000 miles & that is when they will investigate. The other point I want to address is, I have not6iced that the engine is very tappetty. Sound a bit like a 1985 escort kind of tap.

Any ideas?

They are supposed to check valve clearances at the first service to validate the warranty so ask them which if any valves they had to adjust. Just to check they even did it ? Hope it wasn't supplied by SP in Exeter
Rarely they need adjusting but always good to check, if you ride without ear plugs they can sound top endy.

+1 for air in your clutch regards gear selection. The radial setup seems prone to it. On mine it was about a 500 mile ritual or else the clutch deteriorated. I had new M/C etc under warranty but it always came back. Race fluid helps but didn't cure it.

Vince let me know when Griff is down. I have some Carlos Fandango's for him and it's his turn to buy the cakes.
