Couple of questions

How accurate is the Mille's speedo considered to be? I've come from Kawasaki who are infamous for inaccurate speedos. My Zed's clocks over read by nearly 10%. I assume the RSV's clocks are more accurate but it would be nice to have some idea for those tricky "Oh **** there's a camera van how fast am I really going" monents?

The other thing I've been wondering about is how much difference going to a 16 tooth front sprocket will make to my fuel consumption. I'm on a run down to Limoges in France at the beginning of May and I don't want to be constantly stopping for petrol but I really am desperate to try the Renthal sprocket I have here in my grubby paws. What do you reckon lads? Should I shouldn't I before my epic France run?

As ever, cheers :D

I carnt answer the speedo bit but if your on a tight budget and just touring not scratching on your trip id wait out on the sprocket. I upgeared a bike i was doing 120 mile a day on 5 days a week and that saved me a few pennies over the months.

Very good question about fuel and the sprocket sizes as i have 15 on front and am itching to put my new 42 on the back to replace the 40 as i too am goin to france in the near future so i may hang fire....:thumbup

Speedo's are very accurate (i BELIEVE) as for the sprocket change before you go to France ? I would change it, it's a much smoother ride at slower speeds round town etc and when you get to those open road bits your gonna want to give it some welly whether your on a budget or not :devious and you will always have that "what would it have been like with the 16t on :dunno" moments when your re-living your trip again :biggrin
fook the expense these bikes are about having fun :pirate

The speedos are very accurate due to the back wheel not leaving the ground all that often. Also, I ran a comparison in a straight line with a GPS system. Identical figures.

After I changed my sprockets from 17/42 to 16/44 I got on average of 7 more miles to a tankful. I can only put that down to smoother running around town.

These bikes are known to have the most accurate speedo of any bike :thumbup

The 16 tooth front sprocket will be one of the best mods you can do. As BOB says, you won't notice any discernable difference in fuel comsumption. I run 16/44 an still i got around 130 miles to reserve light travelling to the Alps last year on french toll roads at 90 to 100 mph cruising speeds
