V60paul and me sen have spent the morning coring and shortening the OE cans from my Factory T, cheers Paul. Pretty easy job with the right tools and 2 pairs of hands. The only problem we had, or should I say, I had... was a bit of a blond moment when I cut 75mm from the wrong end of the can...:doh

No big deal, it just meant we had to drill out the rivet that held the bracket in place, slide it off then re site it when fitting the exhaust to the bike, however sliding the bracket off did leave a couple of marks. The way to avoid this would have been to drill out the spot weld and open up the braket before sliding it off.....actually the way to avoid it is to cut the right end off...:lol

We didn't take the cat out but we did drill three 10mm holes straight through but in all honesty you probably don't need to bother. We then fitted a 63mm stainless steel perferated tube and finished with a good amount of exhaust packing....:thumbup

Anyway, I can't tell you how pleased I am with the end result, they look great and sound fantastic, a nice deep loud boomimg that just gets better when you wind it up, it sounds like an old prop engined plane flying passed at low level....:hail:hail A few of pics of the cans fitted.

Well in, they look a good length. How did you secure the perf at the cone end Windy lad ???

Nice length mississ

Thank you.

Beacause the cone is, well, cone shaped :rolleyes and it has a reverse cone that goes in, we cut the perf at an angle and it sits tight in the groove. If you take the cone off and look at the inside you'd see what I mean. Maybe Paul can explain it better.:dunno

Man, I wish you could all hear them...:megaphone They'll be on show at squires when we all meet up.

Mart rang me at home after he got them fitted - to let me hear them.

Sounds like a big old american WWII fighter going past - got to get these bikes out soon :)

Like Martin said we cut the perforated tube end to match the cone angle and the reverse cone inner wedges the tube in place, if you follow what I mean.

Know exactly what you did lads. When I did mine the perf was 50 odd mm so I had to swage a bigger upperer, basically bashed a bigger v shaped piece of metal down in to the perf to expand it so it sat nice and tight against the cone when i pushed it back on. That then holds it secure when rivitted in place. I'll have me high mounts on at Squires so we can have some nice accustics. :cheers

Marked em with tape, started cut with a hacksaw and cut around with a jigsaw using a fine toothed metal blade.

looks mint manni, no ower sure aboot the xmas tea towel tho lol

Well the factory comes with everything but bells so I thought I'd put some on.....:lol

Thanks for all the replies. I reckon they're not too short or too long so hacking 75mm off was about right. They do look in proportion to thr bike now, photo's don't do it justice.

Any difference in power? Are you on race map 2 ? Mark

I've no idea and that wasn't the reason for the mod. Sound and looks were the main aim and even if I do say so my self "misson acclomplished" They sound like a WWII fighter plane...:megaphoneBOOM BOOM. And being just that bit shorter look more in proportion with the bike, too me anyway.

Yes I'm running map2 it was set up to run with the un-baffled arrows at the first service so it should run fine with this set up. I'll report once I've ridden it in anger.
