Cored my cans at last. With video comparison.

I bought a set of cans off ebay in December with the intention of coring them. The seller had already stubbied them, but the fool left all the gubbins inside! Pah, we can do much better can't we! :thumbup

As you can see I went for the dark anodized ones. :cool3

I thought they might have been the Titanium ones, but no luck, never mind. However, the link pipe section is thinner than my originals where the Cat is located, and the serial number stamped on the side of the can is slightly different too, so maybe they came off an RSV or Factory maybe? Anyone know? As a result the heat shields must be different (these didn't come with any) and mine don't quite match up, bugger!

So i took a before and after video to compare sound..... hmm, i think it may be a little bit better lol.

Before...

...and after!

:D

Anyone, wondering if this is worth the effort, I say get to it!!!

Total cost is a fraction of aftermarket stuff - £95 for cans, £30 for perforated pipe, baffle packing and rivets.

Now if the weather would perk up, I could get out and hear them in anger! :yes

I've just bought exactly the same cans (though not stubbied) with the intention of coring them (which I've not done yet, too lazy)

Mine were off a RSVR Factory.

Yeah, the heat shields are completely different, much flatter cos of the absence of the bulge in the later pipes

I'm considering just cutting the cat out of mine first of all, then see what the noise is like

Rusty, you're right about the shield. Just spotted a set of cans on ebay off a factory and compared em.

You'll notice a difference with the cats out mate, a nice amount louder than stock i reckon. Removing the baffle chamber inside is what gives it the low rumble though.

Incredible bass note with the cored cans! They sounds great! How many times have you bashed your head on the top of the doorway riding the bike into that shed? lol

Haggis, nice job mate, sound sweet.

Hope the weather brightens soon in Skye so you can annoy the neighbours or bounce the echo off the hills.

I had a buell with set of full race cans, nothing inside except airs and carbon dioxide and coming home with it the coo's and sheep ran like ****, it was great.

Ozzie, it's crap just now, snowed again last night despite weather reports saying sun for next few days. The sheep had better stay the **** outta my way or their ears are gonna bleed!

About the headroom - after seeing that vid i dunno how i aint scalped myself before now. :D

alright haggis, you on the SV.org as well? I just noticed Pete & Lissa in one of your videos while looking at the video of the cored cans

Yeah, guilty as charged. lol

My sv is in need of TLC to get it on the road, maybe before the summer......
So have you still got yours?

no mate, my missus won't let me have two. I was gonna keep the SV for track days but it was muted. Also got silly money for it part-ex.

I still dip into the org every now and again, probably see you on there in the future, I've got the same username

The snow is gone, yeay! It's been a glorious last few days. I was out yesterday for a 10minute run. But, sorry lads, no video this time.

I can't believe i'm saying this... :dunno... but is it possible for it to be too loud? Deep- yes. Rorty-yep, that too. But it's a bit...erm, intense! :lol

I need to investigate by doing more miles, but it might be too much really. I WILL get headaches riding it, and I can't imagine what it's gonna be like for my O/H on pillion. :eek

After all that hard work then snorting the exhaust soot and asbestos particles too. Bloody typical. :no
Day off tomorrow so I have time to re-think.

Dont worry, no drastic measures yet tho, like removing it! :thumbdown
