ok so i recently purchased my 04 factory and with it i gaind a pair of race exhuasts, now here is my dilema i know about the whole standard exhuast/race exhuast map 1/2 settings shizzle but after reading another thread about 02 sensors on here im now confused.

so being a giant **** i am going to be riding my rsv with the standard exhuasts for a few weeks first untill i get used to it being 19 i have only ever ridden an sv for 2 years and before that only moto x stuff.

i noticed today when starting her up to charge the battery (not able to ride it till monday due to 33bhp thingy) that on the rear exhaust manifold has a screw in bolt sorta configuration... like a lamba sensor sorta thing.

now is this something that has been removed as the previous owner has used the "race exhuast"? witch could possibly mean that the bike is already on "map 2". other post i have read sudgest that its OK but not good to ride the bike with aftermarket pipes but on map1 but it isnt god to run the bike with standard exhausts and on map 2...

get me? or am i being way over confused and reading too deep into this?

Reply's would be awesome. thanks Ollie c.

p.s. pictures of this sensor looking thing to follow.

That's an exhaust gas take of point for a gas analyser.

You remove the plug (and one on front header) to read the exhaust gas measurements and then you refit the plugs.

Nothing is missing.

sweet thanks spoonz, i thought that maybe the case, do you recon i could do any damage possibley riding the bike on map 2 with standard cans?

Mate I'm runnign map 2 on my 01 and I swap between my Blue Flame can (quite loud) and the standard one which I put on for track days with very little noticeable difference. Should be fine.

Slightly different situation as pre 04 bikes have retricted/unrestricted maps and no map 2 essentially just 1 unrestricted map, 1 restricted. Also no cats

Post 04 have a closed loop setting for cans with cats and an open loop for no cats. There is no restrictions in either mode.

The open loop/closed loop bit is actually nothing to do with the maps as such but an engine variant switch in the ecu. Variant 1 is designated road and variant 2 - race. When you switch to either variant it automatically switches to the associated map which is pre installed at the factory. The map is only changed if the pre installed version has been updated otherwise they don't actaully load anything with the axone.
