Hi Guys,

I bought the beast in March and I'm getting around do doing some mods to it. The thing that is confusing me is which model bike do I actually have.

Its description when bought was " 2003, RSV 1000 R". It came with full Ohlins, OZ wheels, carbon panels and it had been converted by the previous owner into a
2 into 2 exhaust system (Akropovic).

After reading a bit on Wiki and also this months PB, its stated that the 2003 rsv 1000r is the replacement for the millie and is now the lower spec bike with Showa forks and Sachs shock and the Factory model comes with all the good stuff.

Can someone please put me straight, it would be much appreciated.:confused

It's definitly the r model that is mate,it could be an 02 registered later on as I have a 2000 model r registered in 01 when the newer shape was out.

It must have been talking about the first of the gen 2 bikes, pretty sure I've seen some 53 reg ones around.

Models

1998-2003
Base model = RSV Mille
Upgraded Model = RSV R

2004-2009 (some early bikes were registered in late 03)
Base Model = RSVR
Upgraded Model = Factory

It could have been advertised/described as per the log book.

Check the V5, if it states 'RSV 1000 R' on there; then take the seat off and check the national version sticker as you may be the lucky owner of the faster Japanese version (it is a silver sticker on the subframe that will be stamped with a hole).

:devious

Japanese version is identical afaik to uk version except for the country sticker. No performance difference :(
