Up north !
Hi Guys,
Having nearly died of shock after Austin Racing wanted an eye watering £780.00 for a slip on , I am still looking for a can , I would have paid the £649.00 advertised , but in my haste , I failed to notice that , that was the price before V.A.T
I have now seen a Competition Werkes can , on eBay, from the good old US of A , but it states it's for an RSV4 , does anyone know if this would mount onto a Tuono ? Any guys on here have one ?
Any help and advice appreciated

Dunno... but make sure you factor in vat + import duty in case the barsteward customs bods start sniffin around...

Did you not like the look of the sc project ? Dont let the cheap price put you off as the build quality is up there with akra, arrow and yoshi etc it's an absolute bargain and makes austin racing look bloody expensive but thats probably because with sc your buying direct from the manufacturer rather than a third party that doubles the price.

I do like the look of the SC project, and the price is good , but I'm feeling drawn to the short/ stubby look, with a splash of carbon for good measure .

Thanks for the heads up , went on the duty calculator , adds an extra £112 onto the price , suddenly doesn't make it as appealing when it rocks in at £550, think I might hang on & see if anything comes up , or sell a kidney :banghead

£780 for ONE can??

For fuoks sake!

What's it made from?

Unobtanium?
Bizarre price point , can't justify spending that on a can , like I said earlier in the thread , £640 is a lot , but I would have begrudgingly paid that , but the when you get to checkout & they add vat etc , kin ell , :bawling

Hey Cableguy
Read my reply in your last post re Akrapovic. i am a qualified motorcycle mechanic, i certainly don't want to start slagging other exhaust manufacturers, but you really do get what you pay for.

I have worked on everything from old Yamaha thumpers to Ducati testrastretta engines and believe me, there is a lot of nonsense going around regarding after market exhausts. Everyone thinks theirs is the best for various reasons.
If i were you i would go and talk to a custom exhaust fabrication shop that specialises in motorbike exhausts and get the facts before you make a decision.

Aprilia make amazing bikes. The Tuono keeps winning the award for best super naked bike in the world. Aprilia choose to use Akrapovic. Akrapovic is quality. You pay for quality. There is a very good reason why they choose, recommend and use Akrapovic and the R&D has been done on the Akrapovic exhaust for the Tuono V4.

All i am saying is that yes we all want a good deal and yes no one wants to spend a ****-tin of cash on a slip on, but for my money, i wouldn't be getting anything else but the Akra, for all the reasons i listed in my reply to your last post. Check it out.

If all you want is noise, the cheapest thing to do is gut your existing stock exhaust and keep it.

If you want noise and bling, then get the SC project or the CW slip on, imho all you will get is noise, in fact you will probably find your bike will be down on power if you put it on a dyno, not that you'll notice it.

If you want noise, bling and a proper setup that will ensure long engine life, proper fuelling etc, then you need to look into which manufacturer has done their research and are making an exhaust for the Tuono that has been tuned to the bike. If you want something to last, that is light, strong and will come out on top if you drop it or stack, you want Titanium/Carbon.

Drop the coin, get the Akra. Talk to people on the Forum who have it.

I hope this helps.

Agree with most of the above except the SCProject bit, it was developed on the tuono v4 with the db killer in it is road legal and not much louder than stock, ok it does not gain a great deal of power but does show small gains and saves loads of weight and the build quality is superb, it's only cheap because like I said before you buy direct from the maker rather than a third party and I personaly have had many akra's from full system to slip ons.

Mmmmmm.........I have Akra's
I've had several of them apart.

On the SP series, the only difference between say an Yam R6 and an Aprilia was the diameter of the inlet.
Everything else was identical.

One end cap, two trim strips, a sleeve, an inlet/inner core, some packing and 12 rivets do not add up to £500.
The reason they are so expensive, is because we're too ready/stupid to hand over our money.

Whats that got to do with the Tuono Tifa? You gotta compare apples with apples here. Get an Sc porject and Akra for the Tuono V4 side by side and then compare.
Akra = better materials, build quality, welds, fitment, plus years more experience in R&D. Akra is lighter, uses better quality baffling, rivets and carbon period. All components from the Akra are made in the factory, yes that's right, no imported crap from china! SC is a cheap copy of the Akra.

If you want to argue with that, do the test and post some pics, let's look at the quality.

This post certainly implies it or why make the comment.
Your first comment on materials both use the same titanium tube for the link pipe but sc offer the can in carbon or titanium and akra only carbon but if you want carbon the sc is a higher grade with a satin finish similar to arrow while akra has a gloss finish. Weight wise yes the akra is lighter if thats important to you, spend 50% more cash and save 0.1kg. Build quality there is nothing to choose between them, the welding on the sc is at least as good as akra and so is the fit. As for the comment about loosing power thats nonesence as well and proven by the dyno. Have you actualy had any hands on experience with sc ? The last Australian I spoke to was a highly qualified engineer that was developing parts for hyperpro and he highly recommended sc.
