Comfort Kit Problem

Hi guys, after topyokes managed to finally send out the spacers for the bar risers, I've started fitting the controls to the bars on my RSV's comfort kit.

The problem I'm faced with now is that I can't roll the bars towards me any more or the starter button and horn button on the switchgears will get pressed against the tank, but when I go lock to lock the balls on the end of the levers are touching the glass of the mirrors.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution? I can't angle the levers down any more or they won't clear the mirror mounting point on the end of the clock stay.

All the RSV comfort kit pictures I see on the net are of the handlebars in the straight forward position :(

General view, levers are angled fairly high to clear the stay

I would think the only solution would be to get taller handle bars, or forget about having full lock. I tried getting the bars higher on mine to increase comfort but never got it right. The only RSV fitted with a comfort kit I've seen had the same problem as yours, couldn't get near full lock.

Cheers Richie, looks like it's either bar end or bar mounted mirrors for me then! Couldn't see anything out of the standard ones with these bars on anyway.

The bar height feels perfect at the moment so I think I'll just stick at it - the brake lines aren't long enough to stretch any higher and I'm not prepared to start faffing around trying to get topyokes to send me a longer pair.

comfy bars

just finished fitting kit to stop starter hitting tank i got a set of lock stops made. give me a ring if you want anymore info cheers dave 07977444550

Nice one Dave, think I've got it now. I couldn't see anything out of the standard mirrors anyway so I'm going to either buy some bar end mirrors or the tuono mounts for normal mirrors.

Did the guy send all your stuff out in one go or did he forget anything?

comfort kit problem

first kit sent with no risers so handlebars would not fit without dropping forks through yolks. mate had exactly same problem. brake lines had wrong angled fittngs we both ended sending lines back to hel who altered them. found throttle cables to be too short so sent them to venhill to be lengthened. a lot of fairing had to be cut for handlebars to turn was told fairing only needed little trimming. finished job looks ok but service from comfy bars was absolute **** have never known anybody have so many deaths/personell problems.

He didn't send me any risers out either, lines did have the right fittings at least. Took me 7 weeks to finally get a product I could fit, when he said he'd send the entire kit 4 days after me ordering it.

When chasing him for the risers he forgot to get them done one week then neglected to tell me he was on holiday the next.

Familiar story, he had 2 family deaths and a holiday in the time it took to get my order sorted, 3months.......
The lines he sends are just longer mille ones with same fittings, even though the renthal bars make the master cylinders sit at a different angle, I sent my hoses to Hell to get 90deg fittings fitted instead of the straight ones supplied. This dresses the lines in properly. He said he has never needed to send out risers before, ohlins forks won't need risers, showa forks do, there is a photo on his websit showing (just) risers on a showa/fork bike.

The top yokes are great, he should stick to those

Oh I forgot, he said he'd finally sent out the risers 14th February next day delivery, nothing turns up Tuesday (the next day) so I chase him up about it. "Oh they definitely were sent you should have them by now, I'll go to the post office and check they sent them then text you a tracking number". Wednesday arrives, no text, I ring him in the evening just before he leaves, same thing: "I'll go get you the tracking number".

Parcel turns up Thursday 17th Feb stamped as next day delivery. The date of postage? Wednesday 16th February.

Are the brake lines long enough to go over a steering damper? I took mine off for fitting but I'm not sure there's enough slack in the lines to squeeze the damper in behind them.
